What is your assessment of KAT as a trade target?

Best young big in the game. Aside from his skill level, KAT's iron man health streak make him the most valuable young asset in the league. Already top 5-15 player just needs a good team to showcase his capability. Should be number 1 target for C's.
9 (18.4%)
Top Anthony Davis consolation prize. Elite player that has not been able to fully show his capabilities playing in Minny. Second only to AD in star power for attainable players. Would thrive under Stevens and playing next to Horford.
14 (28.6%)
Great player who might not be the best guy to build around. Incredibly talented but may lack the drive and athleticism to make a team a championship contender. Would be excited if we traded for him but it is a significant step down from AD.
9 (18.4%)
Like him but don't might not be worth the assets that it would take to get him. Good scorer who hasn't shown the ability to take it too the next level. Not a malcontent but attitude issues could be a poor fit for C's. Acceptable but not ideal
9 (18.4%)
Think he's a Good player but I don't want him in Boston. Definitely not worth losing Tatum and/or Brown + assets. In a vacuum best player in the deal but has too many red flags to make me pull the trigger. Pass
5 (10.2%)
Bad player who is bound to be an overpaid bottom feeder his whole career. Can't play defense. Bad team mate. Doesn't care about winning. Limited athleticism. Wouldn't even sign him let alone give up assets.

I love Towns, but he almost certainly isn't available and to get him would probably cost too much and not be worth it.

Just for fun, this is the trade I came up with, which is probably somewhat realistic and reasonable.

Towns, Dieng

for

Hayward, Tatum, 14, Mem, Bos 19

That would leave Boston (you do this obviously only if Irving comes back)

Irving, Smart, Brown, Towns, Horford, Morris, Baynes, Dieng, Williams, Theis, 20, 22

By taking on Dieng you keep Brown and an extra 1st

I think that is a better team than what we would have without the trade, so I'd be ok with that.  As I said, I don't think Towns is even available and if so you only do that if it means Irving stays.
Sign me up if Minny would do this trade lol, a starting 5 of Irving-Brown-Hayward-Horford-AD with Dieng being our backup C as insurance for Baynes is definitely a contender.
Ha. Too many potential All-Star big men to make hypothetical trades about ;D

LOL. I meant KAT, my apologies. Also meant Morris instead of Hayward.

I thought this thread would end after 5 posts and now there are 3 pages of discussion. Wow

Minny Just signed a new GM, who left Ryan Saunders as the coach mainly because of the public support show by KAT. I don't see Gerson Rosas trading the only thing capable of doing something for that franchise shortly after being hired.

If it's true that they don't want to pay KAT and Wiggins, I expect them to trade Wiggins, not KAT

Yeah, Towns isn't going anywhere

Just like I'm starting to think AD isn't going anywhere.

NOP would be foolish not to trade AD at this point. They literally just had a meeting two days ago where he reportedly told Griffin his position on wanting to be traded hasn't changed. Tatum, Smart, picks / #3, Knox, Robinson / Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, #4 / SGA, Gallo, picks - these are all so much better than nothing, and better than the return on many star players.  With Zion coming in, NOP really has an opportunity to begin an electrifying rebuild.

I'm happy with the discussion too. TP.

Been finding good success lately with wordy Polls that I feel take into account every possible outcome. They're kind of click baitey but I get fascinated by the data collection.

My Hayward thread had a near perfect bell curve for responses ;D

Remember Kevin Love’s stats on Minnesota vs. his stats on Cleveland? KAT also has a much lower BBIQ than Love.

How about an option like:

Think he is a fantastic player and would be a great addition to the Celtics but there is probably a better chance of the Celtics changing their team colors to purple and gold than there is that Minnesota trades him anytime soon.

I would vote for that option.

It's a lateral move if Kyrie walks. It's an intriguing move if Kyrie stays.

He's further along than Tatum and Brown and a Towns/Horford/Hayward/Kyrie core is intriguing (especially if Tatum or Brown can be held onto (which is doubtful)), but it's not much better than our current ceiling (assuming Kyrie walks).

He’s cost more than Davis considering he’s locked to long term deal and considering that they already have Wiggins, the package would start with Tatum/Smart at minimum.

I'm sure they'd love to get rid of Wiggins's contract, but they're going to have to sweeten the deal a lot to do that.

I continue to be amazed how so many C's fans get blinded by supposed superstars who have dazzling talent, but who lack the most important ingredients needed to win championships - competitiveness, team-centered, good teammate, grit, heart, good-to-great defender, toughness, pressure player.

I probably forgot a couple, but Townes ain't it.

I think it's a bit premature when people assume a 23 year-old who has only played for what is frankly a bad franchise is a finished product.

Kevin Durant didn't have many of those traits early on in his career, but his arrival with Presti helped turn that team around with great drafting. I think Towns could develop into a championship lead player on the right team. However it's virtually impossible for us to get him and Minnesota still seems to be a crapshow, so who knows if he ever gets the chance

I'm not saying they won't trade AD, but it also looks like David Griffin is putting up quite the attempt to keep him. A trade doesn't look as inevitable as it did back in February.

Ultimately, I think he ends up getting traded but it may not be until later in the summer. I think Griffin is going to make Davis sweat it out a little bit.
