adding horford is huge.  We'll have even more cap space in Summer 2017 with some significant names like Westbrook and Griffin potentially hitting the market.   If we prove to be a top 5 team this year winning 55+ games, we're automatically in the running for any free agent.

Just gotta stay healthy and hungry.

I like this all and agree it with Larbrd, TP

Absolutely love it.  Perfect fit.  Fills a major need.  By all accounts a great guy and exactly the type of "star" we want on our young team.  Like the post on the 1st page - we won our offseason with his signing

Only negative is that he is 30.  But I think he can very easily be Duncan-like with his game and play at a high level until he is 35.

totally fine with it. Given the other mediocre guys getting max contracts this summer, his is a bargain.  I really like our locker room.  We still lack athleticism. Brown will eventually provide that, but may have to wait a year or two to see him blossom.

We need to guard both Net picks with our lives. We have the opportunity over the next two drafts to get two more starters, very possibly a future star.  Let's keep building, competing, and we will get to the promised land. Time flies.  Seems just like yesterday when we won Banner 17.  That was 9 years ago!!!

Great.  We got a great 2 way player who provides us with credibility now and in the future.  He's a good locker room presence also.

Do we any indication that the reason (let alone the only reason) we signed Horford was to lure Durant?

Come on...

The same way I felt before it: Horford is a good two-way player who is overpaid at this point, but this effect is mitigated by the fact that we have rotation players that are locked up way below market value for the duration of Horford's contract.

Let me put it this way: saying "we have Horford at $24 million per for the next four years" sounds a lot worse than "we have Horford and Crowder for a hair over $30 million per for the next four years".

In terms of choosing who to overpay for, you probably can't do better than Horford.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

I think celtics fans think he's the next coming of Christ lol. He's a star yes and a step in the right direction but he's no superstar. We still need our superstar. We have our kg and ray allen. We need our Paul Pierce now.

I'm beyond thrilled. He is the best free agent who has ever played here. He is a high character guy - and I am psyched to root for him this year. Will definitely be buying tickets!!!

We improved our team quite a bit.   What's not to like?

I also don't agree that we will never beat Cleveland or that Golden State is going to win a million championships.   Things change, players get injured, players get older.   Lebron has to start slowing down sometime.  Love and Curry aren't the most durable players.  Anything can happen.  The greatest team in NBA history didn't win the championship this year.

look at it this way, in a year we improved our standing with the league enough that a top Free agent Picked the celtics. and we got a meeting with Durant.

now that we have added talent. If we can further improve our standing. make it to the 2nd round or even the eastern conference finals and win 55 games or so, we will be in the mix for big free agents once again. We now have two all-stars and max cap-space danny just needs to look for his third
