I feel great about it. I never really expected to get Durant anyway.

Pretty much how I look at it.  I think we've had a great offseason so far.

I thought that adding Horford alone was kind of like the Pistons trading for Rasheed Wallace, so between him and the draft, I am pleased.

Celts are improved with Horford, but still not improved enough up front to seriously contend Cavs.

Kind of reminds me of the Red Sox: good team on the field, poor pitching.

Johnson and Jerebko aren't enough to make a difference up front. Danny needs to make a major deal for a Cousins or equivalent to get into the hunt seriously. No sense in drying up that cap space with secondary players.

I'm totally 100% still in favor of the Horford signing.  I wanted him at the trade deadline and I've stated as of months ago that I expected Durant to most likely end up on Golden State or maybe San Antonio.  So nothing has really changed in my outlook.   Like Roy said, I simply didn't expect Durant to come here (though I did allow myself to want it to happen!).

Yes, it would have been awesome if Durant had chosen Boston, but he didn't and it's water under the bridge.

The fact is, bringing back Amir & Jonas actually makes even more sense now with Horford, because they both fit well - almost better than before - with the make up of this roster.  Horford and Amir together make for a very experienced and talented front court that could be one of the best defensive front-courts in the East.   And pretty versatile on offense as well.

And Jonas' ability to provide space, could help open up the use of Horford's post-up skills.

So we aren't suddenly favorites to come out of the East.   I still think we have as good of a chance as any other team of being in prime position to take advantage of any stumble by Cleveland.   It's a long season and things happen.

Ten more wins and maybe a second round playoff appearance.

At least the owners can say "see? Max contact?"

It does help us become more of a destination

Horford is a nice player

But, ultimately no way we beat the cavs  :(

I do think it's cool that we the fans were part of his decision though  :D

Still happy, and relieved.  Puts an end to a few years of watching teams too easily score in the paint.
The true dividends might not come this year.  But they'll come hugely after next big deal.

I'm massively in favor of trading for Cousins, for example.  He's getting older.  He's bound to mature eventually.  We may lose him for a game or three due to techs and breaking team rules with attitude, but when the stakes are highest I think he'll get it together and others will reign him in.  He is truly a drama queen, but not every individual Celtic can have it 100 percent together...

We have so many picks, improving via FA with cap space is amazing.

Stoked about Horford.

I have to say previously I was not in favor of Horford because of his age.  I only liked him with the long shot we get Durant. But as the free agency has gone, I think spending for him is not really an issue.  I also expect his scoring and rebounding to go up a bit on our team in a different role (and not next to Millsap).  And I think he should just be a great fit.  He is a legit pick and roll big man and IT and our guards should really benefit from him.

Our defense has been strong because of its strength on the perimeter but now he adds the frontline to things.  I have very high expectations for our defense.

I am excited for him.

He's a quality addition.  He's a bit older than the rest of the core and will very likely be overpaid by the end of his deal if not sooner, but he fills a need and provides a strong vet influence on and off the court.  I think he won't blow us away but we're really gonna like how he fits in with the rest of the team.

I only liked the Horford signing if it brought in Durant.  The positive side is that it will hopefully help garner future free agents to consider Boston.

The negative side is that there is little hope of winning a championship with Horford on the roster.  At some point you have to go young just like the Warriors did in order to build towards something.

I would have much preferred to give that max deal to a much younger player.  If Horford is taking up that big a slot for four years how are you going to pay some of the other younger players as their contracts expire?

My move would have been to draft Dunn and then sign 1 to 2 young free agents.

Horford is a fine player but the Celtics chances of winning a title during his four years here are negligible at best.  This next season is already over for 27 teams.

I didn’t see any realistic move that was going to put us past the Cavs this year. I never really thought we’d get KD if I’m being honest. So the way I look at it is we’ve gotten better and haven’t traded away the Nets picks so that’s a win/win in my book.
I don’t see the cavs going anyplace for another 2-3 seasons. And as long as the Warriors stay healthy then they should own the NBA for years. I’d rather hope the Nets picks turn out to be future star players to win down the road after the cars are gone and the Warriors age some.
We have the luxury of not having to stink to high heaven to get good picks. I'm fine with slow and steady and no "fireworks."
Peace through Tyranny

Horford is a big upgrade at a position of need for an amount of money that doesn't keep the C's from having max cap room next summer. I love it.

adding horford is huge.  We'll have even more cap space in Summer 2017 with some significant names like Westbrook and Griffin potentially hitting the market.   If we prove to be a top 5 team this year winning 55+ games, we're automatically in the running for any free agent.

Just gotta stay healthy and hungry.

Sure it's not winning us a championship and we're a long ways off from Golden State, but I really like that we improved our 48 win team by about 10 wins, added the 2nd best overall FA who happens to play a position of need and drafted a high upside guy at #3 overall, all while being likely able to improve our team by another 10 wins next off season.

It took the media about 5 minutes to forget Horford and the Celtics after Durant signed with GS.
