3 and 16 plus Crowder and Bradley to bulls for Butler

this trade did not work when ainge tried it. the hang up was that chicago demanded the 2017 nets pick. ainge would not include it and that was a deal breaker.

would you have done the trade and included the 2017 pick? if so, then we disagree.

As far as I know, there's absolutely no proof of this. The only thing we know for sure is that it involved the #3 pick and EITHER AB or Crowder and some other stuff (could be salary filler, could be Nets picks, we don't know).

I WOULD'VE TRADED FOR NOEL AND COVINGTON. THE KNICKS, PACERS, AND MAGIC ALL DID THEIR JOBS AS EXECUTIVES BETTER THAN DANNY AINGE. COOL PICKS! SO SAVVY! THAT DRAFT WAS AN ABOMINATION. PEOPLE COMPLAIN 365 DAYS HERE, MAKE UP ABSURD TRADES, ET CETERA. THIS IS AN ACTUAL REASON TO BE UPSET.
overreact much?  ;D why not take a break, relax, get a drink, smell some flowers, go for a walk and stop shouting at everyone?

we are here for fun and to escape a depressing reality, not to remake this place into that depressing reality.

we have not definitive proof either way or both ways or anyway, and we may never have it. however, over on SoSH they discussed this in depth and they relied upon a contact who they all consider reliable and is a sports writer in chicago and has some team connections.

it was clear that the 2017 nets pick was the hang up according to the sports writer.

but in any case, ainge almost never over pay in trades. this is his MO, so it makes sense to conclude that ainge believed the asking price was too high. we may disagree with him, but he acted in what he considered to be in the best interest of the celtics.

As I've made clear I would have traded 3 for Noel, Covington, 24, and 26.  With Davis and Zubac on the board at 31 there is no way I trade the pick for a future pick

16 - Henry Ellenson
23 - Ante Zizic
24 - Timothy Luwawu (I'd go Yabusele if he fell to here) - STASH
26 - Skal Labissiere (also would have considered Korkmaz, D. Murray, and Davis)
31 - Deyonta Davis (also would have considered Zubac)
35 - Zhou Qi - STASH
45 - Paul Zipser - STASH
51 - Petr Cornelie - STASH
58 - Gary Payton II

With no trade I take Dragan Bender at 3 and the rest the same.

This is not a bad list at all, including the trade.

Except for Bender. LOL.

Fundamentally, what is wrong with the abysmal effort last night is this: We needed shooters and size. We got neither for next season. And you'll have to excuse me if I question how serious management is about free agency now, after their dismal performance last night.

The message from the Celtics last night is clear: We are not competing in the Eastern Conference in the foreseeable future.

That's going to be fine with the "hope next year never comes" crowd. I get that.

It isn't fine with me as a fan. At all.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
#3: Wanted Jaylen Brown, got him. Very happy.

#16: Zizic or Labissiere (happy because we got Zizic at #23)

#23: Damian Jones

I agree with Danny trading the two 2nd's for a future first. I would have done the same thing.

#45: Jake Layman

#51: Ben Bentil (like that pick. Buckets Bentil)

#58: Prince Ibeh (ultimate big man project)
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

3-Brown
16-Lab I would not pass at 16.
23-Zizic
31-Zubac had a 1st round grade.
35, 45, 51 to Grizz for Clipper pick.
58, Jameel Warney

#3 Take Kris Dunn, work out a trade later... a lot of demand around that kid
#16 and #35 I would've sent with Dunn to Chicago... hoping the only player throw in would have to be Amir we get Butler
#31 take Deyonta Davis

I still think Butler is overrated.
