Is it possible to be happy and sad at the same time? Because that's what I'd feel.

Howard is too old .  Can he play 80 games and 30 minutes plus a game .....I doubt it .

We need a Young Big like Noel or Oakfor  ......then add Howard

Howard would have to be used conservatively to make him last till playoff

Got to have a young active center .    Zeller an't cutting the mustard.

Howard missed 10 games this year. So he played more than a number of our starters.

Here is his stat line.  Please note FG %.  I'd argue that he should get the ball more frequently.
5-7 more shots a game.  I don't care if we are in an era of small ball.
His 11.8 Rebounds a Game 1.6 shots blocked per game, 1 steal per game are formidable.

Sign him. 3 years 15 mil with a team option after one year, a player option after the 2nd year.

Umm.. You're not getting him for 3 years and $15 million.

I'm not sure Howard would be a fit here. He wanted more touches down low in Houston which was a reason he didn't want to stay there anymore. I'm not sure the C's are going to switch up the way they play to accommodate him.

I wouldn't think Danny would want to bring in an aging Dwight Howard. I'd rather see him bring in a Whiteside who still has room to work on his shot.

Better than if it were Durant and Whiteside, not as good as if it were Durant and Horford.

If Ainge manages to sign both, I would probably feel like this on the signing day:
Jack of all trades, master of none.

I suppose it is possible.  I don't believe that Durant is leaving OKC this season but who knows.  I think Howard is a clown but he is a more mature clown than he used to be.  Durant might be the perfect Alpha to pair him with.  We would still be weak at PF (pencil in Amir for now) but with Howard at Center, we would have more flexibility to fill that in.

Howard
Amir
Durant
Bradley
Thomas

Bench:  Smart (PG/SG), Rozier (PG), Young (SG/SF), Crowder (SG/SF/PF), Jerebko (PF), Olynyk (PF/C), Mickey (PF/C).

I like all the multi-positional players we would have on the bench.  Lots of flexibility for match-ups or addressing injuries.

Plus, because these are free agents, we get to keep our picks (although not sure what we do with them all).

I would be very happy with this.  I think this team would do very well.  It could even give Cleveland a run I believe.

So try to sign Howard this year and hope Durant comes over next season?  i could see Danny taking this kind of multi-step approach.  Get Howard now while we can and hope it leads to Durant down the road.  If it doesn't, and assuming we have signed Howard to a trade-able contract, just trade Howard and go back to building around young draft picks.

I'd take Durant and the water boy. Not sure what Howards deal is these days but I'll take him in this scenario.

Right. You could package anybody with Durant and I'd be thrilled.

I mean, yeah... You take Durant even if he comes with another player with a G. Wallace type deal. Howard would be a bonus.

The Celtics would be instant contenders if this were to happen.
