In other news, Paul Pierce hopes to eventually succeed Danny Ainge as Celtics' GM, and is not interested in pointlessly burning bridges.

I want to see Pierce rejoin the organization in some way.

me too, but I don't get the burning bridges part. Danny is an awesome GM. Maybe Pierce will come back at a coach?

I'm saying that there is no upside to bad-mouthing the Cs current talent level, especially for a guy like Pierce who has stated he wants to come back to the Cs some day, so while it was a nice thing to say I'm not really gonna take it seriously.

So are you saying it's not true ?  He doesn't believe what he is saying ?

I think he's spot on.  We have a lot of nice pieces here already that will be here for the long run.

He mentions Olynyk, Sullinger, Bradley, Green, Lee, Rondo, & Bass.  I'd take it a step further and include Crawford & Faverani, as both players are still under 25 years of age and can still develop their games.

I see a lot of young players, but I don't think their collective upside is very good compared with other young teams.

Watch for Austin Ainge to be the next celtics GM. He's being trained up to run the family business. He'll be able to ask Danny for advice like in the film The Godfather. No joke.

Pierce is a free agent after this season.  If Boston doesn't offer him some kind of contract, I'll be shocked.

I wonder if Pierce would take it.  We'll be coming off a terrible 26 win season and it's possible that Rondo will no longer be here... but we'll probably have a top 8 rookie to build around... and if Pierce is willing he could be a great mentor off the bench.

Pretty solid find if he's responsible for Faverani (Not sure if its him or Danny that gets the credit yet)
