“They’ve got a lot of good, young talent,” Pierce said. “I’ve had a chance to watch them a couple times on TV. Obviously you see their big rookie, you see [Jared] Sullinger, he’s taken the next step, I think, he’s finally healthy, and then when they get [Rajon] Rondo back, this team has a bright future.

“Jeff Green, I expect him to emerge and really have a good season, Courtney Lee is comfortable out there. Avery [Bradley], it’s time for him to really step up, so they have some nice pieces to build with.”

“Well, I told Jeff he’s the veteran in the locker room now, me and Kevin are not there, he’s the veteran,” Pierce said. “Brandon Bass, I told him he’s a veteran in the locker room now. And I think they’re ready to assume that leadership position. I think they’ve learned well, saw the things we were able to do in Boston, and they’re ready to take over that role.”

I'm saying that there is no upside to bad-mouthing the Cs current talent level, especially for a guy like Pierce who has stated he wants to come back to the Cs some day, so while it was a nice thing to say I'm not really gonna take it seriously.

I agree with Paul.

It's interesting that the first player he mentioned was the "big rookie."  There seems to be a lot of early buzz about the Klynyk's game, and I don't just see it from Celtics homers or those who feel obliged to say nice things.

This kid's going to be good.

But yeah you can say the same thing about any young bad team in the NBA. Good young players aren't gonna do much unless they turn into superstars or bonafide all stars

One thing about Pierce...he grew as a person before our eyes. 
I was all ready to trade him after the indy series (all those years ago).  His first 5 years or so there were growing pains but he worked himself into a great all around player, teammate and person.

I wonder if the Nets realize that by this time next season Paul Pierce could be back in Boston on a 1 or 2 year deal as a Free Agent (especially if Ainge makes a big trade to acquire another star to pair with Rondo AND the Celtics land a good pick in the draft), Kevin Garnett could be retired from the NBA and BROOKLYN will be stuck with a useless Jason Terry to show for this blockbuster deal.

Meanwhile, Boston will own their draft rights for the next 4 seasons and most likely have a team on the fast track back into contention.

Agreed. One thing that PP has always been good for, is that he is really honest. Nobody involved in the offseason shenanigans was as forthright as Pierce was. Not Doc, not Ainge, not KG, nobody.
