so many feelings in dis thread rofl but hell no Lin shouldnt be an all-star after he got exposed by Miami nd came back to earth his poor ball handling (evident by his inability to go left) nd high amount of turnovers he'll be average at best at point. Houstons roster sucks so i see him trynna be a shoot 1st point guard but they wont get any wins

If Jamal Magloire can be an all star i guess anything is possible.

I guess but it would be a shame, i hate when players gets the nod simply because of thier popularity and not thier talent/the level they have performed at.

Paul, parker, westbrook, Curry the list goes on with guys that are better and more deeservant of an allstar nod.
You left out Bryant and a few other more worthy guards. PG vs SG doesn't matter in ASG.
Finally some sanity in this thread.

Kobe, Harden, Paul, Westbrook, Manu, Parker, Lawson, Nash and Curry are all much more deserving than Lin and 5 of these 9 players are probably virtual locks to be on the All-Star team.

That said, if the Chinese vote comes in hot and heavy for Lin because he is putting up numbers on a bad team, anything is possible. Doesn't mean he will be deserving, just that it is possible he could be on the team as a starter. No way he makes it as a sub.

Personally, I liked the way Linsanity swept the basketball world last year.  I thought it was a cool story.  I'm hoping that it was more than just a cool story and that Jeremy Lin can continue to prove himself as a legitimate NBA starting point guard.

I think he has the game to do so, but I certainly don't think he will be deserving of being a 2013 All Star.

Kyrie Irving and Russ Westbrook are a couple of very turnover prone point guards, as well.  Most people consider both of them to have pretty bright futures, though.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I wouldn't box Jeremy Lin fans in one ethnic group. He is popular in Asia no doubt. But He also has Tebow-esque following religious folks, New York fans love him, Houston fans obviously, Bay area Lin is huge, and the casual fans will vote for him based on name recognition.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Great, great, great point. TP. The casual fans are the ones who will make the biggest difference.

I'm surprised that people think Jeremy Lin will get a lot of votes from Chinese, which might never happen. He is not a Chinese. He can't serve for Chinese National Team. He will not be the national hero as Yao Ming was. He will not get lots of credits from Chinese people, even if he starts for a champion team.

I think he rockets are going to be extremely disappointed with their big money signings this offseason. Especially in that third year of both asik and Lins contracts. Oye for them

I'm pretty sure only the owner will lament the third year. For everyone else, the cap hit gets spread out over the length of the contract.

Wow so you by some strange fluke know how much i know about basketball and who knows more than me?

I am not a mod, so I have no authority, but could you please stop trolling? It really distracts from the actual substance of a thread when you are essentially posing and bragging about how awesome you are. Yes, you know basketball. So do the rest of us. That is why we are posting on a basketball forum. You know who else knows basketball? The thousands of professionals working in the NBA, ESPN, and related venues. Some of them share your opinion that Lin was a one-time thing, and others disagree. The very fact that there exist experts in the sport that disagree with you is indicative of the fact that you may not be right. You might be, but none of us know for a fact. It is impossible to know for a fact. So please, discuss the issue civilly instead of this macho posturing. You aren't impressing anyone.

WOW! just WOW! whos trolling? I was just making tha statement that you should not make assumptions about who people are and what they know, its rude and disrespectful, and thats what your being right now.
How am I bragging?

Thats right you are not a mod and i started this thread so ill say whatever i want, the word is free you know maybe its you who should stop attacking people when you werent part of the original conversation.

Hey man. I agree that Lin's a shoddy ball handler, but you seem to be getting a little too riled up. Example; by telling people to stop debating basketball, when this is a forum meant for discussing and debating basketball. No need to get so defensive and seemingly angry, when all other people are doing are voicing their opinions, just like you are.

Lot of tension in this thread, eh? It's kind of Linappropriate *snort*.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I really like Lin, but he will have a LOT of competition for All Star spots in the west.

I'd really be pulling for him, but....CP3, Parker, Conley, Westbrook, Ty Lawson, Curry..even Nash.

I may have left off a couple, but that list is who he'd have to compete against.

EDIT: I forgot that ASGs are voted by Guards..not broken down by SG/PG...oh my Lin's got an even BIGGER pool to compete against.

I'm rooting for him, but...

I think both of those signings are going to be very successful.

It's the rest of the roster that I worry about.
