  • Let's Go Celtics!
It's a fantastic idea and makes 100% sense to me but with Doc it will NEVER happen (sadly).

AGREED on all accounts.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

I really think that many, many, many on this board just do not have a clue as how to manage personalities, can relate at all to an organized team dynamic, or understand that coaching is not about treating players like a fantasy basketball team where you just plug different players in at random game to game thinking to fix what occurred the game before.

Fact is players play best and respond best when given a certain consistency as to what they can expect from their coach and what they have to do to prepare to play and the minutes and role they will play. If Doc, or any other coach for that matter, used the "let's drastically change the starting lineup and rotation and throw players in that can't handle the situation" philosophy of coaching, they would be coaching in high school and not in the pros.

Seriously, there's some really strange stuff being suggested in this thread and around the blog over the last two days because of that loss.

The John Kuester debacle in Detroit being a perfect example of the downfalls of this type of coaching.

Except the fact that a coach with no experience pretty much a rookie, didn't care about people's feelings and changed his starting lineup for game 4, which is why his team won! Z, is a vet who started for them the whole season but Spolstra didn't care and he inserted someone who was doing more for the team! I don't know if Green or West should start but you can't tell me about someone who is all world clutch and a great threat for defenses that is NOT doing anything out there! Sure we can keep putting the threat out there for huge minutes but we will be going home! I actually have liked Ray a long time (he's cute and I love watching him run ppl ragged), doesn't mean I want to see him out there if it's HURTING the team! That to me includes Shaq, if he ain't cutting it, take him out! People can give RR a break b/c he is injured but I think it's all about his ego, he KNOWS he is not up to snuff yet he keeps going out there when it's obviously hurting the team... ask KG, who talked about how he's used to getting crisp passes and such from RR and it wasn't happening last game. Some people would rather take an injured RR when he obviously is not himself and lose, than go a different direction with a healthier choice. You gotta go with what's working than what should or has in the past worked!!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

1. Healthier choices aren't necessarily better choices. I'ld rather have a hurt Rondo playing PG than a hurt D West or a healthy Carlos Arroyo or Avery Bradley. Rondo is easily the best defender of the group(that is half the game and the one this team hangs their hat on) and knows the offense better than all three combined.

2. Z was getting consistently torched in this series while Joel Anthony was playing out of his mind. Z has been playing a position that has seen Anthony, Dampier and Z all start in double figure amount of games this year for the Heat, basically their weakest position. Ray Allen had a bad shooting night. he has started every game and he has no one behind him that has played consistently well enough to move him from the starting lineup(West is hurting and has only been playing well for a few games).

3. Most of the time what works is what you always do you just have to do it better. The Celtics got beat in one game in this series, the last one. They played well and Miami played well and the C's lost. If they had played well in one of the first two games they may have won one or both of those game. They weren't beat in those games, they lost because they didn't bring it and do what they always do. Big, huge difference.

1. You underestimate how well DWest defends. He is healthier than RR and has played better than RR even before the injury! I am not saying healthier is always better but couple DWest's health WITH his better play and you see who the choice should be right now! (I'm not even talking starting, I'm more on the playing time)

2. Is Ray not continuously being torched by DJaneWade? Ray has been absent basically the entire series (don't take him out as a starter), you cannot keep playing him as much as Doc does! Especially if we are playing better with another player (DWest) in his spot! Of course Ray should play, he is healthy and a threat (most times)... that doesn't mean you don't go with the person who is performing better!

3. I honestly dunno what to say to people who think to continue doing something because it worked in the PAST but isn't working now. Sure, what worked in the past MAY help one day but if something different is getting the job done, you don't just insert the old method because it MIGHT work! You always go with what's working!
