I don't know why Minny would want to play Green and Love together. At least Al Jeff and Love make sense on offense.
Jeff Green can play the three. I prefer him there too.
So Minny starts Darko? I'd rather keep AL Jeff and overpay Rudy Gay.
It makes no difference to me who is on that team currently. I'd breaking up the Love + Jefferson partnership anyway. It's just about who I'd prefer to build around long term.
I was simply saying that Jeff Green + Kevin Love could play alongside one another. I prefer Green as a small forward versus a perimeter orientated power forward. I think he's more effective as a small forward, he becomes an above average defender + rebounder at that position. Green loses some of his offensive play but I think he gains more (defense/rebounding) than he loses (offense). A Tayshaun Prince type of small forward.
Hmm ... Ricky Rubio + Rudy Gay + Jeff Green + Kevin Love + defensive minded center ... interesting.
Edit: Nah, not enough scoring potential in that lineup. They would need a center who can be a second go-to scoring option while still providing a defensive presence. Tough to find. Love is ideally a third option offensively, Green a third or fourth option, and Rubio a fourth or fifth option. Lot of pressure on the other two starters.
You're forgetting that Minnie has two first round draft picks this year, including a top 5 pick that could become Evan Turner, Derrick Favors, Wesley Johnson, or Al-Farouq Aminu. I'd say who they get in the draft will determine their decision making regarding possible trades.
Exactly.
If they get Wall in the draft, they can flip the rights to Rubio for another high pick or current top-quality player. Add that other pick they currently have in this deep draft. Then, if they make this proposed deal, toss in Jeff Green as your new SF, another 1st round pick in somewhere around #20-22 AND I believe moving Al frees up some $ to make them a player for a decent FA. Now you're looking at this for next year:
Wall, Green and Love as your definite starters. Add in either a good FA 2-guard (maybe Gay) or Center. The spot not filled by the FA would be filled with the solid player they swap for Rubio's rights. You can now have a solid starting 5. The bench begins solidifying with Sessions, Brewer, Flynn, Gomes, Milicic and the other 2 first round draft picks this year.
Assuming Wall projects out to be Derrick Rose-level of talent, that team would be rising up the ladder within 2 years as they learn to play together and move some of their smaller pieces for find other players that fit better.
