Why do you Boston Sports lovers assume you need every big name that surface on the trade market? Are you guys EVER happy with the team you have. Losing the Division lead with 70 games to play doesn't mean panic time & mortgaging the future!

We dont assume we need him but it sure is nice to have both a contending team and a farm system full of prospects to get this and most any deal done if they really wanted too. Its a valid debate and good discussion that has been going on all month around here.

the sox should have traded for Halladay, it's going to come back to haunt them. They need starting pitching badly. After Beckett and Lester, the rest of the rotation in in shambles. Dice-K and Smoltz are done, Wakefield, although having a great season, is old and injured, Penny is very unreliable at best, and Bucholtz, the stud we kept instead of going for Halladay, has been terrible since being called up. Now they are signing Byrd again. They blew it by not getting Halladay, it cost them 2-3 titles.

Didn't they offer the farm and had it turned down?
Yup

I thought they didn't want to give up too many prospects, including Bucholtz. Maybe I'm wrong. I thought they had what it would take to get it done if they wanted to.
