People won't even offer Milsap / David Lee that kind of money, and both are in my opinion (hell, even objectively) much better than Varejao
Most of the teams with cap room don't want to spend it on them. Not when they fear that their current teams will match. With David Lee I think a lot of teams are worried he's the product of a system.

That's why it makes me so happy. Hooray for stupid Cavs

It is a lot harder to fill a C position than it is a PF, and Perk has improved leaps and bounds over Varejao. More importantly, I think for years to come the road to the finals at least goes through Orlando, and we have would have the Dwight stopper.

You forget AV can play center, he's just not strong enough to play Dwight. Both are young bigs who are huge for each teams future. Height gets overpaid in the NBA, we did give Mark Blount a big extension after all....

Can you really blame LeBron if he wants to leave Cleveland?  I mean, as much as I question Chris Anderson getting a five-year contract, how does Sideshow Bob get twice as much money as him?  Varajao is a 7th or 8th man, he's not a starter (or shouldn't be), he's an energy guy who gives you some length and some fouls off the bench.  He's NOT the answer at the PF spot.

Just one of those deals that you KNOW is going to be an abatross the moment it was signed, like Dampier's deal, and Foyle's deal, and Dalambert's deal (it's always the big men that turn GMs into idiots).

You mean like Ferry's contract was to the Cavs for so many years!!

That is what I think is funny.  Living here in Ohio I remember how much everyone hated Ferry because he had a huge contract and he was horrible.  He was the albatross.
I guess the cavs figured he screwed us maybe he can do the same to some agents...
Instead he just gave Sideshow a "Ferry" type deal...

I love it!!!

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

How would you like to be the fan of a team that was paying Danny Ferry more than Karl Malone...There were actually a few years that he was making more than Michael Jordan...

Danny Ferry
1994-95 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $4,042,000
1995-96 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $4,643,000
1996-97 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $4,643,000
1997-98 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $4,000,000
1998-99 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $4,000,000
1999-00 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $4,000,000

Karl Malone in the same Years
1994-95 Utah Jazz NBA $3,378,800
1995-96 Utah Jazz NBA $3,676,000
1996-97 Utah Jazz NBA $4,657,000
1997-98 Utah Jazz NBA $5,118,578
1998-99 Utah Jazz NBA $6,142,000
1999-00 Utah Jazz NBA $14,000,000

Michael Jordan (Not all the same years, but same timeframe...)
1991-92 Chicago Bulls NBA $3,250,000
1992-93 Chicago Bulls NBA $4,000,000
1993-94 Chicago Bulls NBA $4,000,000
1994-95 Chicago Bulls NBA $3,850,000
1995-96 Chicago Bulls NBA $3,850,000

Maybe the Cavs worked a deal with him and he is working off all that money still.  He sure didn't earn it on the court...

They probably would have held out if the cap wasn't going down. But it is - so they figure keeping the best team makes sense.

Gibson stinks so I'm not so worried about their bench. They could bring DWest off the bench as a combo behind Parker and Mo and that would be a solid Guard rotation. Use Lebron as a 3/4 and then Wally as a 3.

Shaq/Z
Varejo/Lebron
Lebron/Wally
Parker/West
Mo/West

That's an okay 8, but I think they need something else.

As for Jefferson - he's lucky he took his deal, given he's out with an ACL tear. Perk took a solid deal based on what he was, anticipating a big payday at the end of that deal - seems like it will play out that way. He got security and improved - now he'll get paid.
