I continue to be a big Doc supporter, but that move to bring BBD in instead of Powe who was lighting the Lakers up last night was absolutely insane. BBD was awful and his 1-8 night and 3 rebounds in 22 minutes killed us. We needed Powe down on the block. Then maybe that inbound pass would have gone to someone who could do something with it instead of a fat man in a little coat getting the ball with 3 seconds past the three point line and nothing to do but try and hand it off...

huh? what exactly is Powe going to do with the ball at the top of the key?

Did you miss that part about where Powe would be down on the block and another player would have been up there with Ray?!

and Powe on the block gets us?

there were 3 seconds left....if Powe was in there, he would have been out setting screens just like BBD...

I seemed to miss the 4 guys up there standing in front of Ray inbounding the ball setting screens...  Oh yeah. They were away spreading the floor. Don't you think that if Powe was away from the ball then maybe someone better prepared to have taken the shot might have been up there instead?!

My opinion of Doc is pretty static, could be better, have done worse. When we get in these kind of games, I'm not expecting Doc to save us, but with the team he has that might be a feature (3 HoFers.)

I expect I'll always be frustrated with how he plays guys.

so your argument is that they should have run a different play....i don't understand what you are getting at...

the point being made is that with so little time left on the clock, the bigs were being used to set screens, not take shots....that would have been true with BBD or Powe..and whether they were at the top of the key or at another spot on the floor..

I'm confused.  So you didn't want anyone setting a screen?

yeah, i don't understand how this relates to BBD being in the game as opposed to Powe...

That isn't what happened. #1 there was only one big on the floor. BBD received the inbound pass. He should have never been up there in the first place. Eddie and Rondo were on the complete other side of the floor, PP was down in the corner. If BBD was over on the other side and either Rondo or House were up there instead we would have had another threat to score. Plus BBD would have had his bigger man away from the play allowing a cleaner shot.

again, i don't understand how this relates to the decision to play BBD over Powe...

as for the play, inbounding the ball to a guy that you could run a pick off of is a pretty decent play...didn't work, but not an awful play...

i'm just not sure what exactly we are talking about here.

With 7 or 8 seconds I agree, but with three that gives the defenders too much ability to deny the pass. Then you're stuck running another second off the clock which is what happened, or him taking a horrible shot, which Ray did anyway.

The comment about Powe in there vs BBD was in regards to the last 10 minutes of the game, not the last play of the game. Had we had Powe in there then we would have likely not come to this last second attempt. IMO we should have had another small in there instead of BBD or Powe.

i'm still confused...the way your post reads is that having Powe in for the final play would have made it better....

anyway, as for how Powe would have clearly been the better option when KG fouled out, I think we will just have to agree to disagree...

the result is on your side because we lost, but I still think the reasoning for playing BBD was solid.
