Unreal that Steven's waived the white flag on this game because of a back to back. He should've made them play the OT. You don't give away games. I keep telling folks Stevens doesn't have killer instinct. This game should be over and it's not just Smarts fault.

Stop saving timeouts when teams go on runs. Worry about the timeouts later..he doesn't know when to stop a run

Bingo! Stevens is a decent coach but i would be absolutely SHOCKED if he lead this team to a title. He has literally no killer instinct whatsoever. No feel for the game or what's happening in the game. Levert didn't see hardly any double teams which is absolutely insane when a guy is that hot. Any normal coach would force the ball out of his hands in that situation similar to how the Lakers forced the ball out of Tatums hands just last week. If the Lakers kept playing Tatum straight up they would have lost. Stevens just never learns. He's going to get us bounced in the playoffs with his stubbornness i can feel it.

This is what I've been saying. Some games your talent needs to take over down the stretch and sometimes the coaching has to reveal itself down the stretch with strategic moves. Stevens cant always be in teaching mode...sometimes you just need to win. If he won tonight, it would be coaching with all the core players that are out.

We cant keep waiting on the other team to make a mistake. Challenge more calls, get more techs, call more timely TOs, make better substitutions, feed the hot hand, take guys out when they are jacking bad shots. All of that is coaching

He's almost challenging calls every game. We have lost games where he got techs, not sure how that would help. Better sub? We were out of players. The only argument you could have was to play Langford over green and Edwards. If you take guys out for jacking bad shots, you wouldn't have any left. Its a personnel problem that I am afraid cant be addressed this season.

Glad the Celtics won in Cleveland, helped the team and myself feel better about blowing that game to the Nets.

I do enjoy that with Williams back that Brad is fully back on board with giving Theis the quick hook if he's mad about how the team is playing  ;D. Cracks me up every time.

Sometimes it is Theis not hustling, but so many times its one of the Jays not boxing out, a bad three point closeout from a guard, or just a missed dig rotation. Bam out goes Theis.

I’m still wondering why Stevens didn’t challenge the type of foul on the 3 point attempt that sent the game to overtime. No doubt it was a foul. However, could Stevens challenge that it wasn’t a shooting foul? It seemed clear to me that Lavert was looking to pass since he was triple teamed, as his eyes never looked towards the rim.

If he lost the challenge, so what, it’s not like Stevens put out a lineup in OT that was going to win.

The last 2 minute report deemed it was a shooting foul. I dont think the challenge wouldve worked.

I might be remembering incorrectly, but I thought we were out of timeouts at that stage?

Yeah Marcus reached, just a dumb play especially in that situation.

Agreed. I also think Theis is gassed, he has logged a lot more minutes this year than any prior season.  Always worry about him breaking down.

Also, as fine has Theis has been as a shot blocker, Williams really turns it up a notch on that front.  Nance Jr after eating a Williams block refused to take it to the hole when TL was in.  As Brad likes to say, you can feel his presence in there.

We were because I had the same thought when it happened. And if we had the timeout we probably would've saved it to try and get a tip play with the .2 seconds that were left.

My bad, as I thought we still had one remaining. We must have used it on that awful out of bounds play, where Kemba got trapped and a jump ball was called.

Haha - yeah, we took a TO to get the ball in to the right guy, but Grant Williams couldn't find anybody so he called another TO in order to really get the right play...and then we throw it to Kemba in a swarm of Nets. Like, just set a screen and get somebody going into the back court. I get that it is not necessarily ideal, but freeing up any of our players would have won us the game right there. Of course it was Kemba on the jump-ball - lol.
