Trading the Brooklyn pick means the Celtics are entering win-now mode. Problem is, the Warriors may very well be the best team in NBA history. If we can't move the needle past them it doesn't mean anything. The way I see it, it's as if we were in the early 90s and we were trying to compete against the Bulls. That's how good I believe this Warriors team is.

The C's have been a championship driven organization since (at least) the mid/late 50s. They have won a record number of 17 championships. Losing to the Warriors in the Finals is not good enough. All that matters to the C's is banner 18.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should have stopped trying to win. After all, we were a top 2 team in the East last year. My point is, we shouldn't have entered win-now mode. Kyrie-Hayward-Horford aren't good enough to beat KD-Steph-Klay-Green. Not to mention, Brown and Tatum are still way too young. We jumped the gun on the Kyrie trade. He isn't gonna help us beat the Warriors. In fact, nobody was gonna help us beat the Warriors (except maybe for LeBron/Kawhi/AD but they were never available anyway).

For god sakes man get a grip on yourself!

#1 You cannot compare todays teams to that of yester-year.
Todays game is all about Offense and very little D.

Take the great Celtics Teams of the 80's out of the conversation and compare the 82 83 Sixer Teams to Golden St and the Warriors of 17 could not hold their jock straps.
Toney Cheeks Jones malone and the great Erving.

Draymon Green could not hold Earl Cureton's coffee cup

I can't understand the point being made by the O.P. here, sorry.

The way I see it, the only component we have on this entire team that suggests "win now" is Al Horford, purely due to his age.  For that reason I would personally like to see him moved if possible for a < 27 year old star or semi-star big man who better fits with the age of the rest of this group.

Other then that we have a roster being built around a 25 year old Kyrie, 27 year old Hayward, and a pair of super talented <22 year old prospects...AND we still have multiple future first round picks left.

Don't get me wrong, I am a little concerned by out ability to add future talent - we are at the salary cap already, and don't have many high value picks, and all of our players who have high market value are guys we don't want to give up..so acquiring more talent might be hard.

And on the other hand, I don't believe we have enough talent right now to compete with Golden State...so that leaves us potentially in limbo a little...

But fact is, we're probably in a better place then we were with a 28 year old injured Isaiah Thomas and a Brooklyn pick.

My biggest worry is that we took a sidestep with these moves rather than an upgrade.  Before this offseason began, I felt like we were a good team now, with a gloriously bright future that has almost no limits.

After the moves we made, I feel like we are a slightly better team now on paper, but probably won't get any further since our main rival (Cavs) also got better...and I feel our future is very good, but not quite so unlimited as it was 3 months ago.   I do have some mixed feelings about where we are versus where we were...only time will tell if my concerns are unfounded.

Unfortunately were facing an incredible obstacle in the west called the Golden State Warrior. I'm thinking 3rd year, more than 1 or 2.

In 3 years, Tatum and Brown have some good experience under their belts, Hayward will be 30, and Irving  only 28. Plus Big Al will be 32 and still have use, Marcus 26.

This was the plan all along. IMO
