Im 100% with Erik on this one. If we sign Hayward for the max, who does everyone think our starting power forward will be? We already have a huge logjam at the 1-3, no need to add to it when there is another great free agent who plays a position of need and fits our scheme perfectly. If we sign Hayward we will have 8 guys who deserve minutes at the 1-3. That’s way too many and just a poor use of resources. If Griffin’s medical records check out and none of his injuries are chronic, I’d much rather have Griffin.
Luckily they invented a transaction called a trade in which one team can swap players and picks with another team for their players and picks! Since we are drafting fultz, rozier/bradley/bradley will almost certainly be gone and probably flipped for frontcourt held.

Griffin is the next stoudemire situation. Guy has has way to many major surgeries to waste 1/3 of our cap on.
Stoudemire was way too reliant on athleticism. Blake has become a very skilled player.

Yep, anyone who watched Griffin this season will point out that he do not play with burst anymore. He have now extended his range and his offensive game now relies more on footwork than sheer athleticism.

With that said, I'm still wary of his injury. He could have been the difference maker in the Jazz series but goes down after game 2.

The OP is reaching with Crowder. Yes wing players are valuable in this age of small ball. But he doesn't provide any elite skills to prefer him over Hayward. His shooting is suspect, especially in the playoffs. Getting blown by in his defensive assignments on a consistent basis and completely disappears when his shots are not falling.
yeah, I did not mean to minimize Blake's injury questions. they are quite real. I just dont think projecting him out as the next Stoudemire is at all fair.

Absolutely ridiculous.

I get preferring Blake or thinking Blake is a better fit in our system, but to say Crowder is pretty much equal to Hayward on offense while being better defensively is bonkers. Put Crowder in Utah with its snail pace and let's see if he can become an all star who averages 20+ppg.

What makes Crowder awesome is his contract. He's a decent player, definitely good enough to start on many teams. But let's call a spade a spade. He's a 3 and D role player. Those guys are important to a team but they're not foundational the way a player like Hayward can be.

If Hayward is foundational IT is 🐐

Not even close.  Griffin is a walking injury.  That likely will not get better as he ages.

A guy who has played 82% of games is a walking injury? Are you talking about Blake Griffin or Greg Oden? If you remove the season that he broke his hand due to off court drama, it's 88.6%.

Hy Erik, welcome to the board.

Here's what you need to know about this place: never let facts get in the way of an established narrative, the headache is just not worth it  ;)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Sure but two of his injuries have come in the playoffs to end the season. So while he only misses a small handful of games, but the games missed # there doesn't matchup with the severity of the injuries.

Also the 82% number is just wrong.

He's played 73.5% of regular season games since entering the NBA.

That number drops to just 66% in the last three years.

Prior to those 3 years he was an absolute iron man missing 4 games in 4 years but those days seem to be long gone

His injury history is quite something. It is a bit overblown, but the 82% number is very misleading.

Yeah, because one shot determines whether or not he’s a good shooter ::)

Not his 33.6% shooting from 3 last year on 113 attempts.

Griffin has peaked and hasn’t been healthy in years. That’s too much of a risk. I know everything has risk but you don’t play Russian roulette with extra bullets in the chamber. He’s also had his problems off the court and at one time the Clippers were possibly looking to trade him for it. I don’t hate him and if he was healthy I’d not be dead set against him. But I’d rather take a guy who can shoot 3’s and still hasn’t hit his peak yet then roll the dice on Kia man.
