From a scouting perspective, Bender fits the European archetype almost perfectly. He spent of the night floating around the three-point line despite often being clearly the tallest player on court. His length resulted in two impressive blocks but he didn't do much rebounding.

Question:  Bender the type of big man we want?
 Answer :  No.

LOL. The very next paragraph:

But there is one way Bender appears to stand out from those before him, even if it's vague characterization from a small sample size. It really does seem like Bender has a great feel for the game. Sometimes you know it when you see it. He never forced anything and had an impact on the game while playing within himself the entire night.

The kid clearly needs to bulk up , but he is the youngest player in the draft .  He will take 2-3 years to develop , but could pay off big time in the long run . In the meantime we have plenty of cap space to fill our big man needs for now , with the cap going up even more next year.

This is the perfect situation to take the highest potential , especially at a position of need . We are already a 48 win team , with another lottery pick coming from Brk next year , very possibly another top 5 pick .

He has elite length for his position , and you can see the skill .

I more mean in their roles. We've wanted KO to be that but Bender is more talented imo.

He shot 25% from three so he has a lot of work to do to prove that.

There is some recurring confusion about his stats on this and other threads.

DraftExpress only has stats for the 10 EuroCup / EuroLeague games that he appeared in (and only sparingly).

The actual bulk of his season has been spent in Israeli BSL games, of which he has played 26 so far.  In those games, he has averaged 13.7 minutes and has shot 40.4% on 3PT shots.  (IBSL games are 40 minutes long, but use the longer pro 3PT arc.)

That's good to know.  Thanks.

Bulking up is only one part to become a good  rebounder.

Where is the "embracing contact" aspect with bender?

Diallo for example is 3 inches shorter and only about 10 pounds heavier. But he gets praise bc he isn't afraid to mix it up and go after it

This is the issue what worries me about bender more than a lack of strength

He is a pf. That is his future position.

From everything I have read/seen, he is more like a mirotic than a gasol .  Gasol as soft as some label him, doesn't shy away from contact and battles

neither, based upon what reports say, does bender. he may not be a "warrior" under the basket but he plays hard and is willing to defend under the basket and drive to the basket.

triboy, everyone here knows you hate bender. you've established that very clearly, time and time again. but please do not resort to inaccuracies in your analyses. i have seen you write some outstanding posts that are well researched. please dont reserve that effort only for topics you like.

have nothing to work with.  I wish I did.  His stats or lack of.

If he was a guy we are aiming for at 16 , considerin g his upside I would "yelling" get this guy. Like I wouldn't mind with QI

But both are not the worth. risk at 3-5 imo

The type of big man i want is young kg. Not this dude who isnt ready for the nba and never going to be 1/2 as bad ass. 10% chance he's a keeper. 90% he isn't and we hate life. It is in the hands of the ainge family now.
