*Ice liked James Young from day 1 at Kentucky. He's way more than a shooter. His scoring instincts are extremely impressive for a 19 yr old. His handle needs work and his first step isn't spectacular but he's added 15 pounds of muscle and 3 inches to his spring. Those 2 things will certainly help. He will be able to run off screens and knock down shots in motion which is an extremely hard Shot to make. He's smooth he's a better athlete now and definitely above average from an athletic standpoint now. Needs confidence, needs a better handle (he's been working) and a better first step ( he's been working). Like this kid alot. Probably has the highest chance of becoming a 18 point scorer on team along with Sullinger and obviously Thomas who has done it.
Of all the items posted on CB, the love of James Young baffles me the most. He's done virtually nothing for an entire season and posters still love him. Maybe this season will be different. I sure hope he proves his admirers right. Until he does many of us will read about his praises and cringe with wonderment. Summer league is around the corner. Perhaps, this will answer some questions about his potential. 18 points per game? I'm thinking it would surprise me if he averaged 4 ppg. (No offense to this poster....his sentiments are shared by many.)
Young is young my friend. You can't expect the world from him. He is too good for college, too good for the D league and is almost there to make an impact at the NBA level. I think we will see improvements next season.
