Rozier- Eric Bledsoe
RJ Hunter- Marco Bellineli
Jordan Mickey - Brandon Bass + Shot blocking
James Young- Aaron Afflalo
Marcus Smart- Wesley Mathews
*I love Terry Rozier... Made a comment about him before the draft and a few people said it would be a bad pick. However i love his toughness, moxie, competitiveness, fire, swagger, whatever you want to call it. He has that drive to be great. Like I said before the draft, if he becomes a point guard, he has legit all-star potential like other outstanding guards taken outside the lottery in recent years (Jeff Teague, Ty Lawson, Kyle Lowry) all of those guys are hardworking tough guys much like Rozier. He has very good scoring ability and is lighting quick. Hard not to see a little Wade in his game. Defense is Smart like. Doesn't even have to be an elite assist guy but 6-8 per night will due later in his career.
*RJ Hunter is so smooth. Quick release. I believe in his shot. He and Young can become a great shooting duo for us. Both guys are silky smooth shooting the ball. I like RJ Hunter handling the ball. Good in pick and roll and create for others. He can be a starter if his shot really is as good as they say it is and I think it is. He has had good percentages in the past. He can play some point at 6'6. Reminds me of Nik Stauskus and Sergey Karasev along with Bellineli. He can play 1 through 3 on offense. He's not that bad athletically. Actually pretty solid and quick twitch.
*Mickey is good. Solid pick in the second round. A little undersized but it doesn't even seem to matter in the NBA anymore especially after witnessing the Warriors win the title playing Barnes and Draymond Green at the 4 and 5. Mickey is bigger than both of those guys. For some reason I see him being able to contribute to a championship run which is big praise for a rookie. When we picked him flashes of Leon Powe flooded my mind. I think he ends up somewhere in between Brandon Bass and Paul Millsap when he reaches his ceiling which is great for a second round pick. Can't wait to see if his shot blocking is the real deal. I hope it translates. Honestly a little scared that it won't because of his lackluster standing reach. Hope he proves me wrong.
*Ice liked James Young from day 1 at Kentucky. He's way more than a shooter. His scoring instincts are extremely impressive for a 19 yr old. His handle needs work and his first step isn't spectacular but he's added 15 pounds of muscle and 3 inches to his spring. Those 2 things will certainly help. He will be able to run off screens and knock down shots in motion which is an extremely hard Shot to make. He's smooth he's a better athlete now and definitely above average from an athletic standpoint now. Needs confidence, needs a better handle (he's been working) and a better first step ( he's been working). Like this kid alot. Probably has the highest chance of becoming a 18 point scorer on team along with Sullinger and obviously Thomas who has done it.
*Marcus Smart is a shooting guard. That's OK though. He was a better shooter than every thought. Hopefully he can get up to 38 percent from deep. I'm pretty sure he already got a defensive team vote (correct me if I'm wrong). One day he'll make that all defensive team. He's a beast on that side of the ball. He's gonna be a starter for a long time. His heart. He is a Celtics. Reminds me of Joe Dumars, Wesley Mathews types with a splash of Gary Payton because of his ability to play a little point guard. I think he's a career 14 point 5 rebound 5 assist 2 steal guy. I would be happy with that on a championship team. The backcourt of Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart is very exciting. They can become the best defensive backcourt in the NBA in a few years. It gives Boston nice offensive flexibility because both guys can handle the ball for certain stretches. Rozier is a more talented ball handler and quicker off the bounce so he plays most of the 1 spot. Imagine a Eric Bledsoe/ Wesley Mathews backcourt.... That's pretty good.
