Rozier = Dennis Schroder / Cory Joseph
Hunter = Jeremy Lamb / Wayne Ellington
Mickey = Amir Johnson / Lou Amundson
Thornton = D-League / Euro chucker
This is by far the most reasonable post here.

Mickey has more skills than Johnson and Amundson.  Neither of these guys are shotblockers also

I'm sensing that you have an unrealistically inflated sense of how good these players are going to be.

If Mickey were half as talented / skilled as you seem to think, he'd have been a lottery talent.

sensing you have not watched one game of Mickey play and don't know what kind of player we got. He is a steal.   You will see once SL starts

you do realize that with all the hype you've put on Mickey that if he's anything less than a stud your credibility takes a real hit.  I hope you're right about him but I suspect he'll be lucky if he's in the league 3 years

no. Did I say he is going to be a stud? Is Taj Gibson a stud?   Mickey is going to be a solid role player that will provide above the rim presence the team lacked last season.

The negativity is getting a little tiring. If you want to keep bashing Mickey or anyone else on the Celts roster, be my guest

Rozier reminds me of damian Lillard.  Mickey reminds me of a chris bosh version of leon powe.  Its like if chris bosh played in leon powes body.  Rj hunter reminds me of Klay Thompson.

I'm not saying these guys will put up those numbers.  On our roster we probably want people sharing the ball more, but for all intent and purposes that's who they remind me of.  Rozier is a mini d-wade too. I see that.  He's more of a defender than Llillard.  Lillard could actually learn a thing or two from Rozier and vice versa.

That is hilarious - a Chris Bosh version of Leon Powe! I love it.

Jordan Mickey = Jason Maxiell ?

Shot-blocking - check
Undersized PF who can play some C - check (6-7 vs 6-8) - more of a center in PF's body
Little bit of a jump-shot - check
Good athlete - check
Good defender - check
Decent rebounder - check

Jason Maxiell when he was in Detroit.

  • Ainge *still* has a Posse! Ubuntu Y'all
there's something (prob the long arms and his size) in the few clips I've watched of Rozier post-draft that reminds me of Dee Brown.

If Mickey were 6'10 instead of 6'7-6'8 he probably would've gone 10-20 spots higher. Kid is really talented. Due to his length and athleticism, he'll be able to compensate to some degree. Just how much is the question that put him in the 2nd round.

I think he'll be fine. He will block a fair amount of shots at the NBA level. I think he needs to bulk up a bit more and make friends with Big Al so he can get used to defending legit NBA centers with an array of post moves. He's gonna have to play some 5 in the small ball line up ala Draymond Green if he's gonna carve out a long-term role in this league. I think he's gonna be a good pick-up for us though. He can even play some minutes this year and give us some kind of defensive presence in the paint.

Rozier - DWade. You can tell he models him game after, obviously minus any passing ability.
Hunter - Gigi Datome. Great shooter with handle and effective coming off screens
Mickey - I like the Taj Gibson comparison.
Thornton - Haven't seen enough of him to form an opinion.

Datome is a SF .  Hunter is a SG.  Hunter is a better shooter than Datome imo

*Ice liked James Young from day 1 at Kentucky. He's way more than a shooter. His scoring instincts are extremely impressive for a 19 yr old. His handle needs work and his first step isn't spectacular but he's added 15 pounds of muscle and 3 inches to his spring. Those 2 things will certainly help. He will be able to run off screens and knock down shots in motion which is an extremely hard Shot to make. He's smooth he's a better athlete now and definitely above average from an athletic standpoint now. Needs confidence, needs a better handle (he's been working) and a better first step ( he's been working). Like this kid alot. Probably has the highest chance of becoming a 18 point scorer on team along with Sullinger and obviously Thomas who has done it.

Of all the items posted on CB, the love of James Young baffles me the most.  He's done virtually nothing for an entire season and posters still love him.  Maybe this season will be different.  I sure hope he proves his admirers right.  Until he does many of us will read about his praises and cringe with wonderment.  Summer league is around the corner.  Perhaps, this will answer some questions about his potential.  18 points per game?  I'm thinking it would surprise me if he averaged 4 ppg.  (No offense to this poster....his sentiments are shared by many.)
