I understand your desire to keep Smart out of the deal but don't you think that Saunders would insist in order to, in my opinion and probably his, upgrade from the very ordinary Rubio. The other question I would have is will Smart ever be able to shoot well enough to play the 2 with an already mediocre shooter like Rondo at the 1? Thanx for the Bogans clarification.
I think the prospect of getting more picks in return would sweeten the deal. I think Rondo/Smart can actually work out perfectly, in fact... People say Bradley/Rondo is a great deadly and defensive/speedy duo. I think Smart/Rondo> Bradley/Rondo... What Bradley lacks in terms of overall passing, finishing, being able to defend stronger opponents, and just having an overall general feel for the game is what Smart has in sheer amounts. Bradley has the better shooting form, and I actually think in the future, Bradley's ability to knock down mid range/3pt will be above the league average.
Rondo/Smart is a deadlier defending back court, and Rondo can easily get Smart better shots inside, where Smart can either finish, get the and one, go to the foul line, or is SMART, (no pun intended,) enough to be able to dish it off to a teammate for a better shot.
I like Bradley. I want to keep him. I just don't think his ability to think outside of the box other than defending, and taking the shots off the screen/catch and shoot convinces me enough that Bradley will ever become anything more than a role player/Defensive first/second Tony Allen type of guy with a better shot.
