Okay I understand both sides of the argument and all that, so let me just add this, who is the girl next to Dolan?

Given that the only way this can go is going to violate CBlog rules, lets just stay on topic. PM if you absolutely must.

Here's for staying on topic, I thought the Knicks were clearing cap space to make a run at K Love. Trading for Faried the season before he gets his payday seems to run counter to that plan.

That's a reasonable explanation, though letting Faried walk  and waiting a year to make a run at Love would require a degree of patience I would describe as unDolan-like.

I think Faried and Love become free agents at the same time. So there wouldn't be a gap year between them, and Faried could still be your plan B if Love doesn't heart NY.  Faried actually makes some sense to the Knicks.  Not a lot, but some.

Nuggets said they aren't looking to trade Faried. Knicks offered Shumpert and Nuggets said no. The real question is can we get Shumpert? Bass/Lee/Humphries for Stoudemire/Shumpert works, but is it worth it to take on STAT's contract? Also moves AB to the bench/6th man which I think is his best role.

Check Woj's twitter. Said Denver informed Faried' reps they haven't been in talks, just that the Knicks offered Shump & DEN said no.

One side making an offer and the other side asking for more details and then rejecting it is "discussing" followed by "intensifying".

What about Shumpert is he worth looking into?  Sullinger too much to give up?


What about Humphries, Wallace, Lee for Stoudamire and Shumpert?   They get players that can help them more this year and they get cap relief with Humphries contract.  They do have to take on an extra year of Lee/Wallace.

Celtics get a good, young player and get rid of Lee/Wallace final year.

How about this trade

Amare, Shumpert for Wallace, Bass, Lee, Brooks

TP, I'd do it. Maybe the Knicks would do it also.

This would improve our tanking powers, while helping with the development of the young guys. And we'd still have Humphries and Bogans to try to get some picks.

Not a bad plan. The bad thing is we'd need to sign at least another player.

If trade 1 happened, I'd try to send Humphries to the Suns for Gerald Green+Channing Frye+ the 2015 Lakers first rounder (how sweet would it be to have both LA teams first rounders...?). This also cuts 2M from Celtics books, allowing them to get under the tax again. Phoenix, if the trade is made soon enough, could still get value by trading Hump at the trade deadline, or let him expire.

And you'd still have Bogans to try to get something out of his expiring contract.

But I doubt we make such a monster trade with the Knicks.
