Shumpert has fallen out of favor with coach Mike Woodson and, more importantly, owner James Dolan. With the Knicks thin in the frontcourt, adding the high-energy Faried could help them there.

Talks between the Knicks and Nuggets centered around a deal that would send Iman Shumpert to Denver for forward Kenneth Faried have intensified in recent days, the Daily News has learned.
According to a league source, no deal is imminent, although the struggling Knicks feel they need to make a move to bolster their banged-up front court.

I like that trade for Denver. I think JJ Hickson replaces a good dose of Faried's contributions while Shumpert is a big upgrade at SG (a position where they are currently drowning).

I don't like it so much for the Knicks though. I think Faried + Tyson will make life too difficult offensively for their teammates.

I like Faried more than Shumpert. I'm curious if other pieces would be involved. I don't know if the Knicks have much in assets other than current players to move.

Why not us?  Because we don't have Shumpert.

Shumpert has been a bit disapointing this year, but he is one of the more well-regarded young combo-guards in the league (well, other than the elite guys).

Maybe they would be interested in Bradley, although we would probably need to sweeten the pot more than that.  But I also am not sure I want Faried that much.  I don't think he is much of an upgrade over Sully.  He is a fan favorite, but there is a reason he is available.  He is a great energy guy, and he gobbles up rebounds, but he is a terrible defender, and doesn't have a whole lot of upside left.

Yeah so much for shooting to space the floor for Melo.

Bill SImmons and Zach Lowe both alluded to Faried not being the greatest guy in the locker room either, citing 'whispers' they've heard. Like they're freaking Varys.

Why would the Celtics want Faried?

Already have Sullinger who for me is the better player. Plus Olynyk who has good potential.

This is so Knicksy.

They're pretty obviously the best team they can be when they had a pair of point guards, Shumpert at the 3, and 'Melo at the 4.

So obviously they're going to trade away Shump, who is their best player on a rookie contract, for an undersized PF who is going to be massively overpaid at the end of the season.

the Knicks, massively overpay for a PF who won't really help them contend?

I. Don't. Believe. It.

I think you have to bring Faried off the bench when Chandler gets back.  Start Faried/Bargnani initially, then after Tyson returns move Melo to the 4 and bring in Faried with Bargs/Amare.

Let him be a sparkplug big off the bench, it's probably his destiny anyway. Faried won't be effective enough unless he's got a floor-spacing C next to him.

Maybe. But how much would you be willing to give up for a guy who will be a 15-20mpg backup PF behind Sully for a guy who might be an upgrade over the guy you already got?

I wouldn't be willing to give up much of value. A straight swap for Bass is about as far as I would be willing to go.

If they commit to playing Melo at the 4 then Faried makes a heck of a backup C/energy guy. But losing Shumpert will hurt the guard/wing rotation something fierce too.

But they're playing him at SF this season as that's his preference.

Know who Denver could use? Arron Afflalo.

Can someone remind me what Denver got when Iguodala left for Golden State?

I'd love to see San Antonio (Duncan) or Memphis (M.Gasol) make a run at Faried.

Faried could be really successful there.
