Andrew Bynum at 10 million a year for 3-4 years...As part of a rebuild strategy. Yes or no?

Yes, he's only 25 years old and when healthy he's dominant. Worth the risk for a top 3 big at his age.

No, Never. Too much risk and we've already got Wallace's contract to burn for 3 years while we tank
25 (56.8%)
Would rather keep the money for multiple free agents like Durant, Marc Gasol, Kevin Love in 2015-16
4 (9.1%)
I'd do it but only guarantee 2 seasons on slightly more money.

No matter how much natural talent he has, I wouldn't spend anything on an injury-plagued knucklehead who doesn't really seem to like playing.

Why not just sign Greg Oden for a fraction of that? They're the same player.

If Bynum's knees are as bad as everyone says, why would we even consider it?  I mean he is a headcase and has serious knee problems.  I can't imagine a worse player for a re-build than Bynum.  Rebuild poison.

Not at all. He's talented and is beastly when healthy but he can't stay healthy. I'd rather take my chances with Greg Oden.

Absolutely not. 10 million a year is what Steph Curry, Ty Lawson, and Rondo are making.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

why not sign both?  Neither is going to playing more than 24 minutes max for awhile anyway.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

They're actually quite different. Greg Odens Giantism has caused one leg to be significantly longer than the other. Very hard to fix.
Bynum's knees had a hard time catching up with his growth spurts so he's had to juggle building up muscular and tendon strength to support his weight and the pounding they take in an NBA schedule. Thats why they say if he'd gone to college for 2 years and let his knees get used to a smaller schedule he'd have a much easier time.
I guess he's always had to juggle strengthening them whilst playing aan 82 game schedule since the age of 17.
I still think you could roll the dice on him over a value deal while we rebuild. Put him in the weight room for a full year and force him to drop 30 or 40 pounds as part of his contract.
Bring him back in 2015.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I've had two minor meniscus surgeries...the first didn't go very well.  Before the surgery at 6'4 I could hit my head on the rim..i'm 10 years post surgery now and have never been able to play competitive basketball since.  I know these guys have world class surgeons but Bynums knees are done...he blew one of them bowling.

I would pass.

You had a 44+" vertical?

Never had it measured but the math sounds right...I also had bad hands and no left.  What most people don't realize about jumping is that straight vert (like measured in the combine) is not a true indicator of athleticism.  Running directly at the hoop and jumping is one thing...using a hop-step, coming from the right side verses the left is another.  I never realized the difference until I played in a college league and had to guard Jackie Manuel (played for North Carolina).  To be an NBA athlete is a genetic gift.

On that note:  Cody Zeller = bust

No way. 1 year make good contract at 5-8M at best. Adrian Beltre style.

Much rather get Oden after a year of rehab on a min deal or $3M to see what he's got.
