Why not just trade Allen, picks (like a 2nd rd pick this yr. and a future protected 1st), filler (Dooling) and maybe some cash for Big Al?

I can't help, but think how well our offense runs when we have someone in the paint (KG recently, Shaq last year). Plus, I think KG can shore up many of Big Al's defensive shortcomings. Pietrus would replace Allen in the starting lineup, and hopefully with the free roster spot we are able to land a buyout wing.

Big Al is taking up valuable minutes from both Favors and Kanter. He is also owed 15M next season. They get rid of his salary, allow their youngsters to develop, and obtain a veteran player who provides leadership in the locker room.

I'd do this deal though I'm certain Utah wouldn't. THE way to beat Miami is with a post presence near the hoop that can make them have to take the ball out of bounds each time and Al for whatever his deficiencies can do that. And with a post presence, we execute in the halfcourt as well as any team in the league. That said, again, I don't expect Al is on the block at all.
