If I were Ok. City I'd have done just the Nazr Mohammed deal, for one reason only, Perk's current knee issues.... In fact, I wonder how much they'll play Perk this year.....I think they picked up Nazr not just to backup Perk should he get injured, but to limit his minutes....they'd be silly to overuse Perk and risk further injury.
If they weren't planning to try to resign Perk and keep him longterm, they wouldn't have given up the first-round pick in 2012. That and the Mohammed trade makes me think they'll be careful with Perk this year, which is a good thing for Perk, a very good thing, and something that might not have happened with him on the Celtics.
I think it's a good trade for both teams....both gave up a lot and got a lot back. What we got is less injured than what Ok. got, and that had to be a major factor for Danny (I think people are underrating serious knee injuries and how to treat them with care), and we also will now enjoy a more rested Pierce......
Perk is wonderful, but he'll be more wonderful once he's back on fully recovered knees.
Then, for the future, of course the Celtics made a fantastic deal.....that's pretty obvious.
