baby is a better defender and rebounder than moore. and lately has been a better outside shooter. moore's gonna need to do something incredible to take baby's minutes... and that would be to stop gasol because baby's size has proven to be a detriment against gasol. i think gasol would love the opportunity to try and score on moore though. the only one who can slow him down is perk.

and moore's not going to get powe's minutes cause he has no back to the basket game which is what we've been using powe for lately, though he hasn't been as efficient as we might have thought.

moore does bring energy though, and his length may be come in handy as a help defender in limited minutes or in certain match ups.

house's minutes will depend on marbury's d. doc wants house in there playing off the ball, but eddie does create a hole on d. he gives great energy and help d and chases guys off the 3 as well as anyone on our team, but he's very beatable 1 on 1. if marbury proves to be easily taken 1 on 1 as well, that will leave two holes at the guard creating breakdowns we can't afford on d in which case house's minutes may suffer.

gabe's capable of staying in front of his man, which is why he and eddie together have had some success.

now if marbury comes in and shows he can play d. i'm hoping he watches what paul did last year, then eddie can keep his minutes. gabe will lose his, sad, but he's still young, and ray's minutes can be trimmed somewhat. then ray comes back in and trim's pierce's minutes when we run a small lineup with steph eddie and ray, or maybe rondo comes back in at this point. either way, eddie keeps his minutes and with ray and eddie on the floor things will really open up penetration and post up.

we stalled slightly when eddie lost his minutes last year when sam came on board. i bet doc doesn't want to make that mistake again.

BBD is a better defender possibly than Moore, yes. Rebounder?! No way. There statistics are virtually identical. BBD is a terrible rebounder. When you can't jump, and are WAY undersized at the center spot that isn't too surprising. I think you are way overstating BBD's value. Moore won't have to be that good with his size to replace him quickly. Just like PJ did last year. BBD isn't really any better than he was last year.

You're right on Marbury though, although I don't know that it is that sad about Gabe. He has had a pretty good shot at taking that spot and didn't do much with it. If we could get a decent defending SF I think he'd be cut.

a pretty decent shot to crack the rotation?

10 games of getting 2-5 rotation minutes is his big break?

Gabe's a 9th man, he plays the correct minutes, and gives you good D and shooting. if we needed another spot, JR would get cut IMO.

My thinking is that Moore will (and should) take time from BBD.  Gives us a tall guy with a legit jump shot and he would definetely be an upgrade.  I think Powe is basically a better player than both BBD and Moore and thus his minutes should not be affected much.

As for Marbury, he will fill in TA role and I think, will play a lot along side of House a lot.  That tandem would be incredibly effective I think.  Marbury should have much of a problem guarding two guards that don't start in this league.  If you look at LA, they have Sasha which shouldn't be an issue.  Cle has a bunch of guards in the 6' to 6'2" range and Marbury matches up with them as well.  This of course will free up House to do what he does best, which is shoot.

Marbury also gives us insurance in case Rondo is being squeezed on the offensive end and the end of games.  On this point, Rondo will have to man up and understand that in some case, it will be in our best interest to have Marbury on the court.  I don't see any potential for long term resentment since everyone knows that Marbury has no future on the Celts beyind this year.

Bottom line: I think we these two additions, we are now rock solid.  It will be up to Doc to make it work.

Gabe is likely to be moved to the inactive list  IMHO. He doesn't have much size and he doesn't have PG skills. You had better be a [dang] good shooter if that's your game and he hasn't proven that he is that either.. Granted his shot LOOKS good it's just not going in.

I don't see how he could make the ten man..

Marbury, Moore, Davis, Allen, Powe, House.. Even if we eliminate Allen with injuries he still won't crack the top five. Even with Allen gone we ought to be looking at Giddens or Walker to get more size out there for our emergency wing.
