I think this clip demonstrates how foolish the notion, Bill Russell would not have dominated in today’s NBA.

When you factor in that, Russell was 6’9, jumping in Chuck Taylor shoes and without any of today’s modern vertical leap training, people should realise how insane his athleticism was.

5' 10" former point guard

Career highlight: 1973-74 championship, Boston Celtics

Career lowlight: traded for a washing machine

Converse used to have a plant and outlet store down in Malden, Ma just a mile or so down the road from where I lived in Everett. You could get their shoes there dirt cheap, even during the early 80's hey days of their shoes

In the store they had a few sneakers on display of those used by the pros. Bill had a pair there but so did Bob Lanier who I think had a size 24 foot. Those sneakers were massive. As a kid I was always amazed that someone could have a foot that big.

Been very sad since hearing of Bill’s passing. One of the all-time great people, not just athletes. But he was almost 90 and lived an amazing life. RIP Bill.
