Feel like the locker room was split...Kyrie vs Rozier and Brown. Tatum prolly also.

Hayward and Al seem like they were trying to stay above it all.

Total failure.

And that’s on Boy Genius Brad for not being able to overcome. That’s why you take a more authoritative approach early on in defining roles so that crap like this doesn’t happen.

It's not just on the coach.  These guys are professional athletes and adults.   They also need to hold themselves accountable with their approach, work ethic, & attitudes.  It seemed to be lacking for several of the guys.

This isn't a 7th grade traveling squad.

To be fair he probably lost the most finanacial wise out of the players on the team. I'll still always appreciate his playoff run for us last year, and I wish him the best in the next chapter of his career.

He cost himself. He should've accepted his role and tried his hardest to excel at it. Make Sixth Man of the Year your goal.

I don't think Stevens has ever accepted the concept of the sixth man.
Evan Turner was definitely our 6th man in his last season here.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Salary gurus - can we sign Terry to an offer sheet, given we can match all offers, and use him as a trade chip for AD to help salaries match up... saving us from sending Marcus Smart?

FWIW Tatum/Kyrie are pretty tight. I think the locker room issue is pretty multi-faceted. Brown and Tatum aren't exactly best buds, though they do like and respect each other.

Not really BYC rules make him on a new contract complicate matching the Davis salary.

Yeah sure...

If Pelicans are okay with paying Rozier like 20 million per year.. sign and trades only count for half of the cap.

he would count at 100% incoming trade value and only 50% outgoing.

not impossible, but not simple

The easiest way to work something would be a three way deal

Terry to team A for 10 mill per season

a salary from team A for 5 million plus other celtics players to Pelicans

Davis to Boston

But also remember these guys aren’t 30 year olds with 10 years of NBA experience. Rozier,Brown, and Tatum are stilll ok there rookie contracts, you don’t think they felt some type of way about Isaiah Thomas? End of the day the NBA is a job. They just watched a fellow employee get tossed and screwed out of millions. You don’t think that makes them want shine so they can get a great contract? I think they learned that basketball is a business and business comes before championships for them. Yea it’s fantastic to be the highest paid person on the best team, but what is it to be be a low paid person on a non contending team?

If your team is already not contending you might as well be getting paid right? What can Terry show by “accepting his role” in being a bench player coming after Kyrie? A championship? Cool now the Celtics are the 2019 NBA champions lead by Kyrie Irving. Now the offseason comes and Rozier was a 6th man... what’s the market
For a 6th man? What does a young player know about being a 6th man? 6th man role is for vets not young and developing players.

A lot of people are not putting themselves in the players shoes and instead only looking for the Celtics best interest when the Celtics aren’t looking out for their players best interest.

Earth to Celtic fans:

After this series and Brad's inept philosophy broadcasted all over the world and season long struggle..good luck landing any free agent worth anything.

Thinking this destination is desirable is completely delusional now.

This place also has a glaring minutes distrubution problem, and undefined roles and no direction. If I see a FA actually saying they wanna play here,  I will faint.

Marginal players will see what they did to Terry all year and also say "no thanks".

Do a Tyler Johnson contract in reverse ;)

No one cares about free agency if you’re a Celtics fan at this point. It’s all about who we can obtain in trades.

Brad Stevens was recently voted as the 2nd most desirable coach to play for in a players poll....Only Pop was higher.  Stevens might not make the Celtics the most desirable destination, but he certainly doesn't hurt us either.

This would be a dream come true.

However they have this thing called game-film, and all you need to do is watch it, and you'll realize Rozier has no idea who he is as a basketball player. Terry should have been traded early in the season for whatever we could get. Keeping Terry has actually reduced his overall value.
