Washburn: safe to say Rozier ready to leave boston

Everyone in this forum is piling on Rozier. He certainly had a nightmarish season. He has to take his share of the blame. But I have a different take on Rozier. Somehow, some way, I believe Kyrie had a negative impact on much of Rozier's play. Sure, Rozier should have accepted his role as a bench player behind Kyrie. But I believe other factors were involved. I predict Rozier will have a breakout year next year and will average close to 20ppg with another team.

But his play and attitude under the surface where the first signs that everything was going to come apart.

What team is going to let Rozier use 25 shooting possessions? Because that's roughly the number of shots he would need to average 20 PPG at his efficiency.

Any coach who gives Rozier that much of green light is playing for lottery balls not wins.

Terry was frustrating this entire season but I'm not going to pile on him about his comments from last night.  I sensed a lot of bottled up frustration about things not working in Boston.  It's only natural for the contract situation to be a source of stress in such a toxic environment.  He knows that there's no fit for him as long as Irving as here.  He seemed prepared for it, at least to some degree, before the season began.  I'm guessing that things started to change when Irving was going through his random mood swings. 

For all his flaws as a player, I'm not going to judge Terry off of his worst example in a very difficult season for everyone involved.  In some ways I can empathize with his frustration.  There were never stories about him not working hard of being a team player prior to this season.  Not to mention that the team fell significantly short of expectations.  He would have had no leg to stand on if our best players had played to their potential.

It  is patently absurd to blame Rozier for all the team's woes.  I guess folks need a scapegoat but this is a team sport, and the whole team let us down this year and did not measure up.

It was a bad season for him. He's probably not a fit for this team going forward. But we should acknowledge the good things he gave us on that rookie contract.

He’s definitely not responsible for all the woes. Lot of blame to go around.

But he also definitely contributed more than his share to those woes. Compare him to Jaylen Brown, a younger guy who carried himself with a lot more maturity, and frankly, a better understanding of his self-interest. Maximizing his performance within the team was the smartest thing TR could have done to raise his value and serve his self-interest. Instead he sulked right from the start.

His reference to the support he got from his “friends” suggests he was getting really really bad advice.

Hayward and Al seem like they were trying to stay above it all.

Going to be a frustrating off season for him when the big money offers don't appear and the C's don't let him go. Similar to when Glen Davis was a RFA.

Rozier didn't regress - this year he was the same player he's always been
