Another bad coach. His teams have done nothing but underperform and yet he is here again in Chicago with his friend giving him another head coaching job.
Who are the good coaches waiting for a job? Chicago already tried the college route.
The coaching free agent market is not that strong at the minute. I think Chicago and Phoenix would've been best served by sitting tight and seeing if one of the playoff teams fired anyone good.
My favourite available coach is Stan Van Gundy. I loved his work in Orlando and Miami.
I'd like to see Mark Jackson given another chance somewhere. A lot of noise off the court about Jackson - unsure how accurate that was. He did a lot of good things on the court and helped lay the initial foundation to that Warriors team. I am surprised nobody else has been willing to give him a chance.
The other option was to try and first time head coach. Jerry Stackhouse, Sam Cassell, Adrian Griffin and Ime Udoka are former players with good assistant coaching resumes.
Becky Hammon is an interesting name too.
I don't know the names of other non-former player assistants. I don't follow the league as closely today as few years ago (because I don't enjoy today's style of play as much) but I am sure there are a half dozen other intriguing names to throw into the mix there as well.
All of those players would've been more interesting to me than retreads like Monty Williams & Jim Boylan.
Definite no-no. He is better off as an assistant coach.
No one is giving him a chance, because he's been absolutely horrible, disgusting, and completely vile in how he talks about GSW during broadcasts.... He's bitter, and you can tell how venomous he is as a person.
First off, he sabotaged hiring any strong assistant coaches, because he believed they could 'usurp,' or take his spot.
He created distrust within his front office, and even conspired to forcibly convince his players to refuse help from any of the front office.
He also told his players that when Ezeli was injured, and the Warriors were struggling that he was glad, due to the increased trade value of Ezeli. Players confronted Ezeli to find out if that was true, and Ezeli was crying during the confrontation.
When Ezeli was injured last season, Jackson and his staff told the healthy players that Ezeli was cheering against them — so that he would look good, according to several team sources. Players confronted Ezeli in a meeting, and he wept at the accusation — which he denied.
He also not only banned Jim Barnett, but also Jerry West from attending practices.
Finally, he also cheated on his wife with a stripper, despite being a well known religious person, (pastor,) and tried to sweep it under the rug.
Staged a coup against Stockton on the Jazz, which led to him eventually retiring. Refused to let Malone become his assistant coach after a few weeks after finding out that Malone was going to become his AHC. (Fear of Malone replacing him.)
Ran iso-ball despite having two of the greatest shooters of all time, and wasn't that great at X's and O's. He also said Curry didn't deserve MVP, and that he was ruining the game due to his shooting, despite previously having coached him.
He also demoted our beloved Scal to D-League during arguments. Then he pitted all of his bench players against his 'star,' players.
Zack Lowe wrote an article about it.
Kerr overhauled a team culture that had grown poisonous, for well-documented reasons, under Jackson and his assistants. In his zeal to motivate players, Jackson fostered resentment among them and toward the front office. He fired two assistants, requested Jerry West stay away from practices, and asked a younger front-office official to stop rebounding for players, sources have said.
