  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
And then that bench needs revamping. Rivers, House, Faried, Nene, and Gerald Green is an awful bench.

That's funny - just glancing at those names, I would say every single one of them seems like a deadline buy-out that Houston re-signed for the rest of the season. It's only when you look closer that you realize those are actually the players they depend upon for high-level playoff production. That is rough!

It was nice to see a flashback to the pre-Durant Warriors.  Such a fun team to watch on both ends of the floor.  As expected, Houston couldn't get over the hump with their style of play.  I always believed last years 7 game series was a bit of a fluke, mostly due to a lack of interest from Golden State and the absence of Iguodala for most of the series.

I will never buy into Houston unless Harden and the coaching staff is willing to add some new wrinkles to their offense.  Harden has proven that his iso style of basketball can be competitive for the first 44 minutes of a game.  That said, the Rockets need an actual offensive system to help them close out tough games in the playoffs.

TP. I felt the same way. All of a sudden I found myself rooting for them. Durant is an incredible player but he is soooo boring to watch.

Lol I kept telling people here that Houston was overrated and there was no way they were beating GS. Couldn’t even do it when they caught a huge break with KD going down.

It is clear now that KD is a ring chaser and it does not appear that GSW needs him to be eilte. This team is Steph's team. That scheme they run overloading the weak side and running the pick and roll on the strong side with Steph and Green is INDEFENSIBLE. Meaning it cannot be defended, not with the kind of shooters they have.

We used to have the schemes to fight these. Unfortunately, it has been abandoned for abysmal basketball this season.

TP. I’ve been enjoying reminding people that before August 2018 this team’s prerogative was to build a GSW stopper. That’s why we signed Hayward, drafted Tatum, and built “The Death Wing”

Ratings for the 2019 NBA Playoffs is down almost nine percent through the same period last season (excluding Wednesday's games).

The average game this season is drawing 3.19 million viewers compared to 3.75 million viewers last season.

The estimates come from Nielsen and doesn't include people watching on their phones or via illegal streams.

No more people are watching illegally imo.

The product is going down.

Casual fans like the offemse first nba product of recent year. The type of casual fan that illegally streams.

The fans that pay.....dont lile the lack of parity amd superstar treatment the league has become. Heck, even retired players dont lile the game today.

I love reddit  ;D

And also, there is no LeBron James in the playoffs. So that's another reason why their ratings have gone down.

Anyone Surprised Nene was the last player from the 2002 draft to retire from the NBA?

Dang, he's been here for that long. I remember him in his Denver Nuggets days. That 2008-2009 team had the potential of knocking the Lakers out.

Pretty surprising considering he has had the injury-prone label for so many years.

FWIW, I have TNT as part of my cable package.  I watched a few games on my bus ride home and found the TNT app to be such a tumbling piece of garbage that I went to reddit nbastreams and watched via that instead.

With the TNT app, I was experiencing all sorts of issues with neverending commercials, or multiple commercials playing at once... or the commercial timer resetting and then when the commercials finally ended, it was in the middle of play and I missed several possessions.  Absolute garbage.   So you have a guy like me who actively wants to watch the game and doesn't even mind watching commercials opting to watch an illegal stream, because it actually functioned properly.

Saw that Derek Bodner posted that the Sixers were outscored by 97 points in the 96 minutes that Embiid was off the court in the Raptors series.  So I looked on NBA for the Sixers stats with Embiid on and off court.

Min      Team +/-       Off Rtg      Def Rtg      Net Rtg
On court       192       13.3             115.2       94.2         20.9
Off Court        96      -16.2               73.0      119.1       -46.1

Those are staggering differentials without even considering that Embiid hasn't had a very good offensive series.

NBA basketball has gone downhill in recent years IMO, but I guess I'll tune into the game 7's.  Rooting hard for Portland.  Lillard is one of those players who deserves a ring but may never have enough support around him to win it all.

Kanter so far has been a big defensive liability.

Terrible officiating already.  Murray gets 3 free throws by kicking his front leg out on the 3.  No consistency whatsoever among NBA refs.
