Imo Jokic is the best big man in the league now

Not the quickest or most athletic, but high iq and has a huge body. Plus amazing at passing and underrated shooter

He is like an incarnation of Arvydas Sabonis

Jokic only plays one side of the ball.  He's really, really good at offense, but his defense is still a huge work in progress.

About the same time that Cousins blew out his Achilles tendon.

Jokic while never maybe as good as Davis on D

He understands his limitations and uses his size very smartly

He is kind of like Baynes on the D end but even bigger

Jokic isn't a two-way player, really.

I feel calling his defense a "work in progress" is inaccurate as that implies he is putting work in, and/or progressing.

So are you implying he is not or he is already good?

This question is loaded on a celtics forum where everyong belives davis is a 1st ballot halloffamer already because there is a good chance the team trades for him.

I think Jokic is a quite a way ahead of davis at offense. Jokic is a juggernaught offensively.

Defensively, while definately not as good as Davis, is not being judged completely fairly as denver isnt a great defensive team at a whole. On a team with capable wing defenders I believe Jokic looks alot better on that end

Regarding Jokic's defense:

- The Nuggets are 10th in Defensive Efficiency
- Jokic is +3.7 in DBPM according to BRef
- Jokic is +1.9 in DRPM according to ESPN*
- Jokic's DRTG per BRef is 105**
- The Nuggets give up 1.1 PPP during Jokic's minutes this year per NBA Wowy
- Jokic is tied for 10th (with Anthony Davis) for DRB%, minimum 24 mpg

*(this does rank him 26th among centers but he ranks one spot ahead of Steven Adams)
**This would rank 6th in the league for a full team

Overall I would say that the numbers suggest Jokic is not an amazing defender, but he's far from the liability on that end, despite how many people still seem to see him.  In particular I would say that defensive rebounding is underrated and blocks are wildly overrated.

With that said, the Nuggets also have a great home court advantage and have done a very good job scheming their defense around Jokic.

None of this means Jokic is better than Anthony Davis, to be clear, although I would say that availability should be part of that equation.  Davis averages about 65 games played per year while Jokic averages about 75.

No. Not even close. The difference defensively is massive.

Yes

But I think most would choose to build around Jokic. Not Anthony Davis

So which is it?

It depends on what we're talking about.

I think Jokic is my first team All NBA center. It's him or Embiid and I think Jokic's playmaking is so otherworldly, he's gets it.

Davis isn't even in the conversation because of the season he's had. But, that said, if I was drafting a franchise this summer and I had my pick, Davis would be my first pick of all the bigs in the league, still.

You are confused

How can Jokic be 1st all star team on your team

Yet AD would go #1

Huh?
