It’s not kyries fault this team lacks talent outside of him.  49 wins and a 2nd round exit makes perfect sense for a 1 Star team with Marcus Morris as their 3rd best player.

There’s nobody to blame.  Blame yourselves for having unreasonable expectations of an also-ran roster.

“Toughness”. “Leadership”.  Bunch of nonsense.  He’s a top 25 player with no other star on his team.  Ain’t nothin surprising about them failing to beat a multi star 60 win team built around an MVP

Past of the reason for this post was that his quotes are just incredibly entertaining because the things he says are unbelievable sometimes. I do remember the Pierce incident, which was also unbelievable...

I also believe that, like Pierce, Kyrie needs his KG. Pierce grew up very quickly once KG arrived. KG was also the real emotional engine of the championship team. Smart currently plays that role on this team. Kyrie is a #2.  The only way I'd want to keep Kyrie is if it means we can get, and resign Davis long term. Davis would be the #1, Kyrie the #2, and ideally Horford, Smart and Hayward the glue guys. Smart would remain the emotional engine of the team.

But I have serious reservations about signing Kyrie to max money if there isn't that true alpha coming in next season.

Don't you dare discredit the artificial trip to the ECF by bringing up the pretty bad teams we beat to get there!

Smart of Smart to not burn bridges, of course he’s going to publicly support his current and possible 2019-2020 teammate

KG and Pierce are different kind of weirdo. They are weirdos who are ready to chew you up and fight till the end.

That 2005 playoff exit? It's not like Pierce didn't try. The series went 7 games for a reason. His frustration about losing tells you more about his competitiveness. At least he carried his team to ECF before. Say want you want about him wanting to be traded. He simply just wanted to win.

KG? The guy wants you to get you in his head. The honey-nut-cheerios stuff is something Payton, MJ or Larry Bird would do to take a psychological advantage to their opponent.

Kyrie just laid down and watched his team burn to the ground. His post-game interview also sounds as insincere too. Other players would even cry from frustration because they wanted it badly (IT). He left a winning team (Lebron) to build his own personal brand. Now that he got what he asked, he looked like a deer in the headlight.

If Kyrie ends up going to Brooklyn, could the Celtics and Nets do a double sign and trade?

Kyrie for D'Angelo Russell.

Quote
"In this series, I think Kyrie, the way he went about it was disrespectful to the city of Boston, was disrespectful to the organization. And he didn't represent what Celtic pride is all about. I spent my first eight-and-a-half years of my career in Boston, and those fans are unbelievable, the organization is unbelievable, the history of the franchise in itself is unbelievable.

"And the way Kyrie went about it, 'OK, yeah, I struggled. OK, on to the next game.' Kinda like the, 'I don't care' attitude. Just basically, throughout the whole process, I thought he had got it, but he was just a bad leader and he didn't represent was Celtic pride was about. It was proven, in my opinion, he's not a Batman. He's a great player, Kyrie is an elite player, but he's not a Batman. He's a Batman when he's on the team with LeBron (James), but he's not a Batman. He can't carry his own team."

Not Kyrie's finest moment but nothing he can't come back from.

He doesn't need to be dumped because of this.

Yeah, exactly. He is still only a 27 year-old. PP had some pretty ugly moments in his mid-20's that he came back from.

I'm not sure if surrounding him with different personnel - whether that be coaching or players - will help, but I imagine that it could

KP unloaded, even if he was inclined to come back it seems to me that people are going to force him away.

I hope not, I want him to stay (and to get AD), though I don't really disagree with Perk here.

I'm totally over Irving. I have been for several months. It's true. His selfishness and attitude are antithetical to Celtic tradition and the City of Boston's work ethic. It was no coincidence that the Celts were more of a TEAM during last year's playoffs and performed better. Also, I remember last year, Kyrie failed to attend many of the Celtic playoff games in Boston, failing to support his team mates. It was ironic that this season, Irving criticized his young team mates publicly...claiming they didn't know what it takes to win. And then, in this year's playoffs, he was abysmal when he faced adversity.  Many young Celtic fans are enamored with Kyrie's style of play... his other worldly handle, his athletic layups and his occasional 3 point shooting streaks. Unfortunately, that alone doesn't win ball games. This season, when Irving took more than 20 shots, our winning percentage was .344. I am hoping Irving walks. I wouldn't be surprised if he walks b/c he isn't accountable for his screw-ups and he seems like he's too insecure to take criticism. In the long run, the Celts will be better off without Kyrie - addition by subtraction.
