  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Well, this is going to open another can of worms.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/celtics-jaylen-brown-says-environment-in-bostons-locker-room-is-toxic/

This has already been posted..

And also this is taken out of context... Jaylen Brown says losing is toxic... Which makes sense.
"I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies and hypotheses
Can't define how I be dropping these mockeries."

Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
It's based on your perspective, quite simply
We're the same and we're not; know what I'm saying? Listen
Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

Anyway, I feel the entire team just needs to pipe down with the media. This is causing a circus atmosphere with the team. If Brown wants to make a statement, let your play do the talking. Ditto with Kyrie, Morris, the whole team.

I think most people that have done anything competitive would consider losing to encompass an abundance of feelings & emotions.  "Toxic" certainly being one of those descriptions.   And he's right about it being up to the entire team to turn it around.

Quote
"To be honest, I'm not feeling good at all," Brown said about the current state of the Celtics, via CBS Boston. "The losing, it's not a good feeling. I'm not too good about that. Because right now it's not good. It's toxic. I can't really point out one thing. I don't have all the answers. I'm just going to try to be part of the change. I'm going to try to do my best. That's all I've got to say."

Brown went on to say that it's up to the entire team to turn things around if they want to avoid an early postseason exit and make the type of run they did this past postseason, despite the fact they were without the services of both Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving.

"I just try to come out and play hard and hopefully that sparks some [change]. But it's not just up to one person," Brown said. "It's up to the whole group. Everybody has to be on page. If one person's not on page, it's going to affect the whole group. I just try to come out and play hard and see where that leaves me."

This forum is toxic. There seems to be waaay more negativity and complaining about a team going to the playoffs as a 5th seed. When some franchises would be thrilled just to make the playoffs: Kings, Knicks, Hornets, Suns, Magic, ...........Lebron lol

Yes the team has been disappointing but they are still a very good team that STILL has potential to  be champs.

When it rains it pours.  This has not been a fun season because expectations were out of this world.  The C's were to take the league by storm and throttle the East and were supposed to beat down everyone in the West except the Warriors.  Since the chemistry has been an issue the team has been playing tight.  Chemistry issues then they over pass.  When they over pass they play iso ball at the end of the clock.  When they play iso ball they get tired and have defensive lapses.  Injuries at inopportune times.  Hayward needs more time to recover from a gruesome injury. etc.  This has been a trying season for fans, players, coaches, front office everyone.  In the glimpses we have seen them play well they look unstoppable.  Trying to figure out how to do that day in and day out is key.  I just don't know if this team can do it day in and day out because they are not consistent shooters.  Everyone on the team besides Kyrie and Al are spotty shooters.  They can hit 10-20 then go 2-32 from the 3pt land.  Rozier has regressed because he's not playing big minutes.  Tatum has not been consistent.  Brown's 3pt stroke is down.  Morris hasn't met a shot he doesn't like and is a momentum killer when he's not hitting shots.  The D without Baynes struggles.  The C's get killed against athletic big men and the Timelord is no where near ready to play in a playoff push.  This season just hasn't gone as expected and on top of all of this is now the Kyrie Drama.  Will he stay or will he go.  Whe cares.  Winning this year is all that matters right now.

Which means Stevens isn't getting through to his players and lost control of his team

Or it means that the NFL's insidious mandate to turn all of its players into empty husks that merely repeat canned, inane soundbites ad nauseum should stay with the NFL and far, far away from any sport that allows any player any modicum of leeway when it comes to expressing how they feel.

Toe-may-toe Toh-mah-toh.

Obviously you haven't been on other teams sites. This is mild. Most here are just mad, bewildered about why this team had been bipolar all season. Its expected with the expectations the team had. No one could've guessed a 5th seed with no major injuries.

I'll cut and paste what I said on reddit.

Quote
He seems to be specifically saying that the losing is toxic and he wants to help turn things around. That's now getting presented as Jaylen saying that the locker room is toxic. I'm seeing article after article of "Jaylen Brown blames toxic lockerroom" or "Jaylen Brown says locker room is toxic".

The thing is, "Toxic locker room" and "losing is toxic" isn't necessarily the same thing. Yes, losing sucks, but winning can fix that. Fixing broken relationships is more difficult.

Is it the same? Is being bummed out and anxious, because the team is losing and they collectively have to deal with the media onslaught the same thing as "hating your teammates"?

I imagine they are collectively frustrated and it probably hasn't been too fun having such an underwhelming season, but I want to make sure we don't look at quotes like this and assume guys are getting into fist fights or refusing to communicate with one another. If you missed it, here is the video of Kyrie and Jaylen Brown in practice the same day this "losing is toxic" quote came out: https://streamable.com/o50xl
