He doesn’t want cameras in his face and to be famous or a celebrity.  He only wants to play basketball... which is why he starred in a movie I guess. ::)

[Westerholm] Kyrie Irving says setting an example for the young guys is the most important thing: “And I don’t even want to call them young guys. They’re my teammates....“Someone once told me ‘inspiration comes from the mountain tops and maturity comes from the valleys.’”

Sorry to rain in your parade

But why is he setting such crummy example then?

Lashing out at the cameraman? For what, doing his job?

Playing no gives a F on the defensive end. Constant empty no reaction stares/clap

Is he even awake?

He didn't lash out at anybody. He just said he's not going to miss cameras always being in his face when he's done playing basketball.

Take things out of context much?

Or did you not even hear the interview?

He said he didn't mind the cameras following him around when he was younger but now he just wants to play basketball. And what does being in a movie have to do with it? That was a side project he did on his spare time.

Hello!!!!!!!!

Where's Al? Where's Smart? Last I checked, Irving wasn't the only "veteren" guy on the team. Heck, where's Hayward? Hayward legit sulks for most of the game (hmm, wonder why that gets dismissed).

That is an interesting point. Why doesn't Hayward get criticized for playing like garbage all season while collecting a 30 million dollar paycheck?

Maybe his pretty hairdo makes up for his awful play for some fans.

I think it’s because Hayward experienced a horrific and gruesome injury 18 months ago, and wasn’t cleared to play until 8 months ago. So most people have empathy for his situation.

He also has never claimed to be the team’s leader.

Hayward's been criticized here for months, there's been numerous threads complaining about him  ???

Pretty much every player has played the role of pinata here this season. Except Yabu. Nobody has complained about Yabu for some reason. In fact nobody's even mentioned Yabu.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Kyrie - while not having an injury as significant as Gordon - did have surgery, though. And I'm not really talking to stats, but he has no presence on this team. During games, his body language suggests he'd rather be anywhere else.

And does the absence of a proclamation of leadership absolve him?

My wife had very unkind things to say about his haircut when she was trying to guess the player names in this video:  https://youtu.be/UhYYJo24nYk?t=288

He was much more engaged yesterday.

Now would be a nice time for everyone to lock in and hit their stride as a team.
