Silver lining: next year we can build a roster with guys who actually want to be here.

Unless we trade half the team for AD and re-sign Kyrie but only for one year guaranteed, then we do this year all over again but with two griping, maybe-soon-to-be-gone stars instead of one.
Again, Anthony Davis has never been thought of as anything close to “griping”. Not sure where that’s coming from

What, floating your complaints to your agent and having him leak to the entire league doesn't count?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

That is enough to contend in the East...and they will be better than the Knicks trust and believe. No drama, everyone plays hard.
And we forget about contending for a title for the foreseeable future. Great. ::) ::) ::)

No disrespect, but it was not Kyrie or Hayward that made them a contender, or you believing you have a  contending team.

I just don't get why Kyrie mesmerizes all of you so much.

If he averages 50 points a game with 4 assists, while bowing out in the 1st or 2nd rd...how is that seen as a step above what was accomplished?
Actually Hayward being healthy, Kyrie having a great year, and the rest of the squad filling into roles was the reason they were considered title contenders.

But Hayward was not ready to be Hayward this year, Kyrie got enmeshed into this Davis crap that went down at the trade deadline, Tatum regressed as a total player, Brown, struggled out of the gate and has struggled from three, Rozier has sucked and Horford and Baynes were injured for good periods of time. Steven's has struggled to get this team motivated and Ainge made no moves to help because he is all in on Davis for this summer.

That's why they aren't contending this year. Getting rid of a top 10 player in the league and not adding a top 3 big man, will doom them to another, most likely, 3 year or more wait for another chance to contend.

As it's been amply noted, there was no easy way to sort this out without jeopardizing a trade for Anthony Davis.

I do believe that erasing Morris somehow would have minimized a lot of issues. The rest of the team would have picked up the slack with relative ease.

This is the biggest head scratcher for me.  I see the argument of Terry as insurance policy (which I don't agree with), but does anyone in the organization see Morris as a part of the future plans?  If he isn't helping you in the present and you don't expect him to help in the future, why is he playing such a large role?  Is it due to his representation by Klutch?  I just don't get it.  I would rather have a big guy out there that plays a role like Theis or Baynes.  Watching the game yesterday and seeing what Tucker and Capela provide, it becomes so much clearer that we are missing that element.

absolutely ideal scenario would have been TR and MM for a PF or C type with more contract years left

Yeah...basically baggage from Kyrie, Hayward, Brad and Danny while demoting Rozier to a guy just trying to find some minutes.

I don't know how you blame a bench guy for a team being in disarray, but even so...those guys contended last year and are the reason this team is considered one.

All this year proved to me is that Kyrie and Hayward failed to get anything done and are not good additions to what was started.

I don't know why people see it as any more than that.

Brad and Danny saw them as REPLACEMENTS, which proves they didn't identify what they have in the first place.

That team wasn’t a contender last season. They had an approximately 0% chance of winning a title.

Contenders? You're joking, right? The East was a dumpster fire last year. A true contender would have blown the doors off of that Cavaliers team, but instead we got... a Rozier and Brown meltdown in game 7. This love affair that some posters still have with Rozier even after how bad he's been this year is asinine to me.

Hah, now I know you're really joking. Did you seriously use regular season wins as a base line for what a contender is? By that logic, the Raptors for the past 5 years have been consistent contenders.

Well the Raptors have "help" this year and very well may win it. Same with the Bucks and Sixers.

We...who went farther than all of them...decided to "replace" and now stink.

I went about as far as I can go. Ultimately all of you will see in hindsight because Danny really can't help himself and Brad is not that great.
