Some of you need to read my post again. Nowhere did I say Kyrie was the reason they lost this game and this isn’t a 1 game reaction. There are what  27 games left so we have seen a huge sample size of what this team is made of. My point is they were a better team last year and it would only make sense they should have be a better team this year with Kyrie and they simply aren’t. Just didn’t make sense to me other than maybe some of these guys don’t like playing with him. I don’t know but it doesn’t make sense.

Put this in one of the other 543809fiftyleven64399 Kyrie threads.

Oh sorry I didn’t realize this wasn’t a Celtics forum and Kyrie doesn’t play for them. You certainly didn’t have to click and read did you ?

Were we a better team? Because we couldn't win on the road, couldn't close game 7 on our own floor, and didn't make it to the finals.

what makes you think this year we can without home court?? This looks like a longshot compare to last year

Kyrie has a problem with sharing the ball closing out close games. He trusts nobody but himself. Everyone stands around while he decides which one on one more he will make. And the worst part of this is THE OTHER TEAM KNOWS IT.

If you watch a game carefully - Irving doesn't share the ball the rest of the game either. He dribbles too much and either shoots, penetrates or dribbles around and makes one pass. This creates a situation where the other players stand around too much and become less engaged on offense and, subsequently, on defense as well. Just less engaged, less active and less working together. Many people here will start quoting assist numbers. They miss the point. When a player dominates the ball and sometimes makes the one pass after drawing defense, the one pass leads to a made shot and Irving racks up some assists. But over the course of a game, a month, a season, this style of play hurts the overall effectiveness of very talented players.

Was curious to see if it offered a semblance of anything new or a remotely original thought, but it's just a regurgitation of everything we typically see when the C's lose and Kyrie plays.

From what I have seen yes they were better last year. They didn’t lose to teams like this and especially the Orlando’s and Knicks of the world. They played harder last year, why? On paper they are a better team this year but that hasn’t materialized on the court. I would be shocked if this team can get to the 7th game of the conference finals. Right now they don’t look like they are getting out of the second round unless things drastically change in the next month and a half.

Haven't won tough road games this year either.

In direct response to the title question: very good. He's only improved during his time here, and in 2019 (barring the LAL game, BBRef hasn't updated yet) he is averaging 26-8-5-2 on 55/41/85 shooting splits. Those are better numbers than those Rose put up in his MVP season, and they're comparable to Steph Curry's (less points on slightly worse - but still elite - efficiency, one less rebound, but better playmaking and defence).

The problem isn't Kyrie. It's mostly how our other guys have played. Lots of our guys have flaws that they haven't worked on.
Terry Rozier is a ball-stopping chucker. Tatum is a weak defender and passer. Brown is very inconsistent. Hayward is still not 100%. Baynes and Theis have both dealt with injuries and form slumps. Al has been on a minutes restriction due to injury.
There are many factors.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Our record without Kyrie is telling same with the stats of the players that struggle when he plays.

We'd literally won 10 out of 11 games coming into tonight. Save the doom and gloom for when it's necessary.

Maybe you should be original instead of just another keyboard punk. I don’t come in here and read every single post every day. I’m Celtics fan that occasionally comes here and posts my thoughts. Could care less if it’s a thought that other people have already expressed but pat yourself on the back for letting me know.

Those guys have played worse with Irving - his style doesn't make teammates better.

Just making an observation of what I see I didn’t say the season was over. Just don’t see them playing as hard for some reason I mean how many of those 3rd quarters have happened this season?
