If Ainge is smart (which he is), he would be talking to Kyrie nearly every day (which he is).  He would have regular conversations with Demps (which he is) to develop a framework for an Anthony Davis trade after the season (which he is).  He also shouldn't panic and make a dumb trade (which he isn't).  All is good.

If we keep our heads screwed on right and mow through teams to the all-star break (fingers crossed) maybe the media can start writing the story about how Boston has figured it out and looks scary. New shiny object to chase.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Honestly, based on these past few weeks..

If all the trade 'rumors,' were true, we would be running with a lineup of

Rozier/Wanamaker
Smart/Brown
Tatum/Brown/Ingram
Kuzma/Theis/Ingram/Ojeleye
Horford/Baynes/Williams

Wow... What a championship caliber type of team. OMG!

...he trades Kyrie to the Lakers before the deadline.

This prevents the Lakers from getting AD as they'd be stuck with the same problem we currently have.

If they resign Kyrie in July they still need to find matching salaries to trade for AD the following year and they'd have even LESS valuable assets to trade the Pelicans for AD.

AD will have to outright sign with the Lakers in the following year/summer of 2020.

Both AD and Kyrie are injury prone (have never played more than 75 games in a single year and averages 68/63 games a year respectively......LeBron will be 2 years older and they won't be coming out of the West (dealing with Warriors, upcoming Denver, Houston, and don't sleep on the Spurs) so C's won't have to worry about them at all.

Laker's will be a pretty good regular season team but they won't sniff the Finals for years to come.

Make it happen Ainge.

What would the Celts get back in return from the lakers?

What the Lakers have is garbage.

Maybe Kuzma is worth something, but other than Kuzma, the rest is garbage.

I'll take Kuzma. He's a stud.

Ball has some usefulness....not sure I want his dad though. Lakers can keep him!

Zubac can play also. More bigs with a post game is needed IMO.

Losing the talent of Kyrie is tough.....but Kyrie is just NOT a Celtic. He's just not. I'm sorry. Maybe I'm wrong but he just doesn't feel like one.

At this point I don't care what "value" we get just as long as we can sabotage the Lakers and Davis's agent and Magic/Rob Pelinka who are all obviously colluding together.

That's just awful logic.

Are you positive those names from the Lakers you mentioned can be true Celtics once traded for? If you don't know and aren't 100% yourself, then I've made my point.

I have an idea.  We should resign Kyrie this summer, trade for Anthony Davis, then try to negotiate a longer term deal with Al Horford.  Then we should support our really good team and feel lucky to have it.

I think the only trade with more than remote chance of happening is Yabu and Bird to Dallas or Chicago or Cleveland so we can get below the luxury tax...
I think we would need to bring a 14th player but Celtics will have some time and leeway to play with 10 day contracts.
At this point I believe it will be good for DA to make a trade to take the attention away from our players and Yabu is probably the one to go. It’s also pretty important to get below the luxury tax... this could potentially  push tough financial decisions another year down the line

That's a pretty good idea to be honest  ;D

Interesting thread because it illustrates how little the Lakers have to trade for a top star.

What I dont hear many people talk about are the amount of games both Kyrie and AD have missed for nagging injuries.

We should include that in all of our list for both players. Then you add the Hayward injury and this is all risky. You include Horfords age and we could go from a young athletic team to a oft-injured aging team real fast.

One thing I love about Tatum and Rozier is these guys don't miss games.

I'm just saying🤷🏾‍♂️

So what's the point of Ainge getting Davis if AD/Kyrie won't be sniffing the Finals for years to come with the Lakers? Lakers might still have LeBron in some of those years (in his continually dominating plays), and they could still sign vet min players and ring-chasers. Warriors will likely see their end of their empire and then the West would eventually run through LA.
