Can we get Beal?  or do we hope KI sees How it worked for Paul George.   We all were hurt with his July 1st comments. I think if Durants signs in NY he is gone. I think Beal or McCullum are ideas for the deadline. I think Ainge will be on the phone because he has to be.
Did you watch the video where he told the reporter in a dismissful and disdainful manner while answering the guy while looking st his shoes?

Kyrie's "Ask me July 1st" comment wasn't him saying he was unsure and would make his decision July 1st. It was more like him saying "Why do I keep getting asked this question when I have answered it? You know what, dude, ask me July 1st when the Celtics announced I have re-signed"

At least when actually watching the video, that's what I took out of it. Really have to watch the whole video. That entire interview was taken completely out of context by a lot of the media.

Agreed. The guy just wanted to be left alone. Anthony Davis asks for a trade and somehow Kyrie gets dragged into that bull s***.  Unfortunately, people like to draw their own conclusions and ignore reality. By the way to the OP, we do NOT have a great team without Kyrie. A team without Kyrie is a team that makes it to the playoffs and loses in the ECF. That's not the goal nor is that a "great" team.

This would not be a great team but it could be a fun one. If Irving bolts i would personally prefer if Stevens stepped down as coach so that we could get a coach in here who will allow Brown and Tatum to play big minutes and showcase their talents. As long as Stevens is coach, none of these guys are going to play big minutes or have plays run for them.

i went  and watched it. All will be smooth when we win.  I am hopeful it was the media stirring the pot. The New York Media wants him. Kyrie is not going to be the, first to sign on July 1 i know that is for sure.

If Kyrie goes, sign Rozier for pretty cheap and have some more money to add a middle like star for some experience.

Big thing is what do they do with the picks? Do you bring on 3 more rookies to go with several other guys all at 5 years or less (Smart, Rozier, Tatum, Brown, Williams)? That would prolly signal the end of Theis, Wannamaker, Semi, Yabu...need those roster spots?

Or do you package all three in a trade for a Beal or someone else? Hayward would have to return to form for them to be winning the east.

But this team would have to be given over to Rozier Tatum and Brown.

I think the Celitcs should try to consolidate some payers and picks for a solid center. Could be Vucevic.

That would be the best case scenario.

Trading Rozier, Baynes, and Yabusele for Vucevic would be the best case scenario.

But since Vucevic is now an All-Star, I think Orlando will be asking for a pick or picks.

If the Lakers get AD, Ainge should go all in on Vucevic.

Having Vucevic will make life easier, inside the paint, for Al Horford.

That needs to happen imo.

Celtics will come out the east with vuc(depending on the price)

The price will not be a problem because the Magic have no leverage.

Vooch has an expiring contract.

Unless the Magic want to pay him big money in the summer, I don't think the price will be too steep.

But if the Lakers fail to get AD, I don't think Ainge will make any major trades this week.

Why is a team with only one all-star able to play at a high level without him? Because the real muscle of this team is that we can maintain 48 minutes of pace, defense and attacking offense at our wing positions, and because Rozier and Horford play their best supporting this style. We don't have any other superstars, but we have no significant drop off down roster either.

Tatum Brown and Morris are tough two way players and they aren't afraid of playing against superstars. If Hayward gets back to that level too, that becomes a difficult group to beat, even if you have an elite wing. Its extremely unusual to have 4 wings this good, and given the evolution of the game these days, I think its a mistake not to build out the team from that.

A wing centric fast paced style works best for everyone except Kyrie.

I am hoping and planning on seeing Hayward return to form like Paul George has since his broken leg. Give him time.

With neither Davis nor Kyrie the Celts would have a perfectly fine and likable team that would have a shot at winning 45-50 games in a normal season and might be able to win a playoff series.

I'm not sure that the team would ever become better than that, even assuming significant growth from Tatum and Brown in the next few years.

We would have a good, solid team. Not great, unless Tatum turns into that PG/KD type wing, and Brown does similarly
it would truly depend on who else we could court in free agency in the absence of Kyrie

Or if another star becomes available

We won't have any cap space to sign a different free agent.

I disagree. We have young players who can get better over time plus three first round picks.

Not just 1st round picks, they're lottery picks.

We're sitting on a golden egg right now.
The Memphis pick could be the #1 pick in 2021.

If the Kings don't make the playoffs then the 2019 Kings pick is a lottery pick.

It's true Celts will still be in great shape even without AD and Kyrie.

But I'm really hoping Kyrie stays and he retires a Celtic.
