Teams on the EC would be playing to make an appearence in the finals to get stomped for,the next ten years .

Make a team to compete , would have to take every superstar off every team in the EC put them on the same team.   Still would not win with injuries out West .

Kawhi will leave the Raptors 100 % for LA

EC comference becomes a G league .

So .... more of the same then?

Yup ....locks the NBA into a two, team sport located in CA  .  With a EC representative being sent to meet one of them and get destroyed yearly .   Great for CA TV bank accounts .   EC interest and ratings fall to,all, time low .

If plan B occurs...Boston is in the best shape to wait out the Warriors. They would have like 6 guys in the rotation that were 4 year guys or less. Now..can they find enough value in this draft if they keep the picks

I hope the Plan B is Brown, Rozier and picks for Porzingis.

I'd also still love me some Love
Although that one would be harder to match.

Honestly, even if AD does go to LA, unless they add a 3rd guy I don't think 34 year old Bron plus AD is enough to beat the Warriors unless KD signs elsewhere this summer.

Would an Irving/Holiday backcourt work? Asking for a friend...

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
I think this totally ruins the season in the short-term.  It's not good news for anyone in that lockerroom trying to build chemistry.  It turns everyone on the Celtics into sitting ducks - especially if we get past the trade deadline and he hasn't been moved to the Lakers.  That REALLY signals that Davis to Boston is being discussed.

It would be a massive kick in the balls if Davis got moved to the Lakers, but the silver lining would be that everyone currently on the Celtic roster would know they are kinda stuck here... a guy like Jaylen Brown couldn't be just dreaming of getting through this season and earning a big contract on the Pelicans... instead, he'd be forced to lock in and try to make it work in Boston.  It might actually help the team rally around one another and make a playoff push.
that's a good point
What if we trade KI for AD, and they flip KI to the Lakers. It could happen. We all know DA will do what it takes to make this team better.

Hope KD opts out? Trade Hayward to Dallas for Barnes and Brunson. With the Hayward trade + Morris, Rozier, Theis, Bird free agency gets us to like 18mil under the cap. Get Horford to opt out and resign for18mil a year for 4 years. Hope the cap goes up enough to sign KD to a max 4 year deal, then sign Kyrie to a max 5 year. All wishful thinking. I have no idea how the cap works. But Barnes and KD are apparently Irving's best buds, so there's that!

Kyrie, Tatum, Durant, Barnes, Horford
Smart, Sac 2019 1st, Brown, Yabusele, Baynes
Brunson, Hunter, Boston 2019 1st, Ojeleye, Williams

I’d hope someone like Beal or Kristaps.

We could help NYK absolutely jumpstart their youth movement with Brown, filler + picks, or we could just offer for Beal.

Would like one of these two if we miss AD

For long term sustained contender status Horford’s age certainly worries me.  It would be great if Robert Williams eases into being a Clint Capella type as Horford fades,  but it’s not a guarantee.

If Robert Williams doesn’t pan out, we will have to start thinking about plan B.  It’s tricky Horford could age well say from 33 to 36, 37 but nobody really knows.  He could fall off a cliff sooner than later.

Stay the course. This team is well-positioned going forward, no matter what happens with AD.

Hopefully, KAT becomes available via trade in a few year's time. Or maybe Williams exceeds expectations and replaces Horford sometime down the road.

Even the best case outcome for Williams will have nowhere close to the skillset Horford has.

The hope is that Williams can eventually replace and exceed Baynes.  He'll never provide what Horford provides.

Yeah I think staying the course is still a very good option. But If Kyrie up and leaves us high and dry, we will rely heavily on the picks and growth of our young guys.

I don’t believe Ainge ever puts all his eggs in one basket. He likes options.

He'll probably end up making some trade nobody even anticipated, lol. Guy is unpredictable for sure

Plan B is to keep on trucking. And find a way to dump Hayward.

Replace Horford in the starting lineup, not in terms of his playing style.

Banyes isn't a shot blocker. No one else in our current roster reminds me of Williams. Best comparison I can think of right now is Noel.
