SI.com posted an excerpt from an upcoming book on the Jail Blazers. Looks like it'll be quite the read.

I remember that at one point Isaiah Rider got caught with a hundred or a two of stolen phones, in his trunk.

  • When my account was born, Mark Blount was our C :(

I think Damon Stoudamire got busted with weed going through airport security.  I guess these days that’s barely news but it was outlandish in the late 90s.

It's not all bad. Sheed comes out smelling like roses:

Stephanie calls Wallace “one of my favorite men in the world.”

“He was one of the few guys on those teams who never did anything like that,” she says. “Rasheed gave me a card one time that said, ‘Thank you so much for all you’ve done. I love you.’ He was like a kindred spirit. Everyone thought he was really mean. He was wonderful in a lot of ways.”

News like that were so rare back then, you wouldn't believe. Pre internet, I read it in the only basketball newspaper in Croatia. It came out monthly.

I bet that the book could've been titled:
"How not to build a team"
"The joy of the balling under the rims."

Oh man, I'm really excited to read this. One of my favorite old NBA teams, and they really should've won a ring in 2000.

Let's never forget Steve Kerr was a Jail Blazer too.

One thing I remember Steve Kerr saying once (I believe on one of the TNT Open Court episodes), he thought guys like Rasheed Wallace and Bonzi Wells were the biggest jerks, until he got traded to Portland, and realized how they were such great guys and fun to be around as teammates and were hilarious.

He also said on the Bill Simmons podcast that it was a great experience and one of the most fun years he had in the NBA, of course he added it was because of the dysfunction, so he may have just been mocking them lol.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class
