The Boston Celtics have waived guard Walter Lemon Jr., who was on a two-way contract.

We don't have a roster spot for a 10 day. Lemon was on a 2-way contract.

As far as I know, each team can have up to two 2-way contract players per season. Don't think we can replace Lemon with another player on a 2-way. I may be wrong though.

My guess is that Lemon wanted to move on. The C's didn't plan to use him anyway, so they decided to let him walk. While Lemon was signed on a 2-way, he could only play either for the C's or for the Claws. That's not the case for the other G-League players. They are free to sign for whichever NBA team offers them a contract.
