It's frustrating to see the Kings win but when the season starts to settle in I think that pick ends up in the top ten. I expect the clippers and grizzlies to make the playoffs, but won't do as well the entire season as they're doing now.

so lets say the Kings pick is 8th, Grizzlies pick is 18th, Clippers pick is 21st, our pick is 25th.

which 4 prospects do you think the Celtics can come away with?

My ideal scenario...

8th - Kevin Porter Jr. USC. so good at creating space, smooth lefty with shades of Harden in his game. I don't think his ceiling is quite that high, but I view his floor is a Kelly Oubre type guy. The 5-10 range in this draft isn't very good..Celtics may try to trade out for a guy who can contribute right away.

18th - Charles Bassey. Western Kentucky. Bassey has drawn comparisons to LaMarcus Aldridge/Al Horford. It's yet to be seen if he can extend his range out to the 3 point line, but if he can then watch out, NBA. Still raw and would probably get the Robert Williams treatment his first season, but I can really see him blossoming in to a great, mobile big.

21st - Jaylen Hands. UCLA. The upside is too good to pass up at this point in the draft. This could be a swing for the fences Fab Melo type pick, but if it works out then you're getting a guy who could potentially fill Roziers spot, and may even surpass him as a player. Scouts are impressed with Hands improved shooting mechanics, and he's shooting 40% from deep this year.

25th - Jalen McDaniels. San Diego St. McDaniels is as versatile of a forward as you will find in this draft. His sophomore stats at SDS mirror that of Kawhi Leonards 2nd year stats. Of course im getting carried away with my comparisons here, but that's what I do when I see the Celtics sitting with 4 picks in a deep draft with Dannys draft history :D

I completely forgot about Darius Garland. I may put him over Hands with that hypothetical 21st pick.

My dream draft would be if the Pelicans make all four of those picks.   ;)

I haven't seen enough college games to have many favorites yet.  I'd like to see them draft a pg or combo guard, a wing, and a couple of bigs.  A project big would be nice.  Horford isn't getting any younger.  I liked Jontay Porter last year.  I think he has a lot of upside due to his skill level.  He just needs to work on his body which is obviously difficult with his injury.  If he declares, he'd probably be available mid first round with the Memphis or Clippers pick.

Zion is probably a pipe dream at this point, but I would love to get him with the Sac pick.  Bol is a possibility with the Sac pick as well.

With Rozier and Morris likely gone, Yabu's lack of development, Wanamaker's lack of playing time, and Bird's issues, Ainge could very well make all four picks.  It will be fun to scout the prospects during the college season.

TP for the discussion and pointing out guys to pay attention to.

Not too worried about Kings, I still think they will fall off and it will be a top-10.

Grizz I think miss playoffs and we get 12-14th pick (would love a few spots higher though), but they are playing well.

But the Clips! They look great and definitely have a legit shot at the playoffs. They are my second team right now, want them to win every game (until they clinch a playoff spot, that is).

I don't think Garland's injury is considered too serious. He won't play again this year though. He was killing it in the 5 games (lol) he played prior to injury and would be a dream replacement for Rozier. However, you'd likely have to use a lottery pick to get him. No way, if healthy, he drops out of the top 15 or so but you never know.

Celtics are not drafting 4 guys, period.  They are way "too deep" as is and I predict they trade at least 2 of those picks.

8th Romeo Langford or Quentin Grimes
-We will more than likely need to draft a guard that can come off the bench since it looks like Rozier won’t be around next season. I really like Grimes, he has good outside shooting and he’s still young but I don’t know if he falls to 8th. If not I think Romeo Langford of Indiana could be a nice pick-up.

18th Rui Hachimura
-In the Gonzaga games I’ve watched this year he has looked very good. Seems to develop more and more each year and I think at his age he has the potential to step in and get some minutes off the bench immediately.

21st Darius Bazley or Shamorie Ponds
-I think with four potential first round picks it would make sense to use one on Bazley who was a consensus 5 Star recruit before he decommitted from Syracuse to train for the draft. It’s not often that you have the chance to add a potential lottery level talent late in the first round and with four first rounders why not take a shot. Shamorie Ponds probably could have been drafted last year but chose to return to St. John’s. I think at his age he might be a nice Rozier replacement at the PG position that can compete for minutes right away running the second unit.

25th Dedric Lawson or Carsen Edwards
-Dedric Lawson reminds me of Marcus Morris every single time I watch him play. He has the same body type and the same in your face attitude and swagger that Morris has. He can do everything, rebound, score, defend and he’s also a junior which means he hopefully won’t need too much time to develop. Carsen Edwards is incredibly short for NBA standards but I feel like we’ve always done well with short guards and they eventually become nice spark plug players off the bench and fan favorites. Specifically he reminds me of like Phil Pressey or Shane Larkin who both played important roles for this team when they played.

That's certainly true but it is nice to see who may be available at each spot.

Why does it matter when none of them are lottery picks ::)
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Do you actually think the Kings are going to make the playoffs in the West?

Last thing this team needs next year are 4 rookies.

Starting to hope they won’t make it, but it wouldn’t be shocking to me if they slide into the 8th seed.

hmm, ideally we'd be making those picks on behalf of New Orleans and use them in a deal for Davis after Kyrie signs his new deal.  Perhaps as part of deal including resigned Rozier for salary matching and probably another young asset (most likely Brown although I'd like to keep him and Tatum in that scenario).

IF that doesn't come to pass, ideal situation is Kings jump to #2, Memphis comes in at #9, Clips at #15 and C's probably in low 20's the way they're playing this year.  C's likely to lose Rozier and possibly Morris and Theis so I could see the C's moving all but the #2 pick to move up for a single higher pick or move in a deal for a bench vet since we're in 'win now' mode.

Just draft a true CENTER with one of those picks
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
