If Perk can do only one job- rebound, next to Horford, sure.

But I'll also be okay with him standing near the end of the bench giving mean looks and looking like he about to drop an opposing player in any scuffles. He was our enforcer in the Big 3 era while KG was the heart of the team.

Too little - Too late.

I maintain that a 2011 Banner would be hanging from the rafters if Danny had not screwed the team up with that one awful trade all in the name of keeping up with the speed of the league. Well, we didn't need to keep up because we had the advantage of pounding people into dust down low.

I will never get over those two lost titles, 2010 & 2011 (mostly due to Perk's absence).
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Perk's absence, KG's knee, Rondo's ACL, the biased refs in game 7 of the Finals, the loss of Tony Allen, Sheed being too gassed to finish game 7, Shaq going down before the playoffs, lots of factors.

We didn't have any backup SF after Marquis Daniels went down. I think that's why Ainge needed to trade Perk for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. Ainge thought he'd been OK with Shaq/JO'Neal/Krstic and a young Jeff Green backing up Pierce.

Unfortunately, the O'Neals did not work out with their injuries. Krstic was out of the league the year after.

Danny Ainge tells @Toucherandrich that he talked with Kendrick Perkins last night but “I don’t think it’s a good fit for our team right now. You never know what happens during the course of a season.” Ainge notes how team already doesn’t have enough minutes for current bigs.

Krstic was injured as well. If you were gonna tell me that Jermaine O'Neal would end up the healthiest of the bunch, I wouldve called you crazy. But well, that was what happened.

Perk was also lousy for the rest of that season, including the playoffs, and kept declining afterward. And we fell a mere 11 wins short of a ring to boot.

I loved Perk when he was here but it's just a bizarre argument to cling to.
