A source with intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the NBA told Get More Sports that Davis is considering five teams in the near and distant future: The Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers.

The determining factor in the short term will be the level of success the Pelicans do or do not have during the first half of the upcoming 2018-19 season. If they are middle-of-the-pack or worse in the competitive Western Conference, it is more likely than not that Davis will be moved before the trading deadline.

And if that becomes the case, no team is more primed to exchange a bushel full of assets than the Celtics, whose president, Danny Ainge, has long coveted Davis.

“Winning and being the best player on the floor every night” matter most to Davis, according to the source, who spoke to Get More Sports on the condition of anonymity.

I think Davis and Embiid would be great together but unless Philly is trading Simmins they have no shot at all at acquiring Davis

Trading Simmons should be a no-brainer if you can get Davis. The same goes for the Celtics with Brown.

Well if the determining factor is team success, they are doing better than we are at the moment. Pelicans are 10-8 white we are 9-9. So I can't see him asking to come to Boston unless we get our act together.

I think the earliest AD is available is the summer of 2019 regardless, and I said this last year as well during the season. Pelicans look decent now. I think the hope would be for the Pelicans to have an early playoff exit this year, so that AD thinks hard about leaving. But I doubt the Pelicans would entertain any AD trade offers this deadline unless they seriously implode in the coming months, which I doubt they will, but they could still end up a low seed and an early playoff exit still.

Also, to me, Tatum has to be untouchable in an AD deal. I'd easily give up Brown and anyone else (even Kyrie, though it'd hurt), but Tatum is special and the goal is to build a long term dynasty which one of Brown/Tatum could be a part of, otherwise what's the point in getting AD if you're literally gutting your roster to do so.

Huh? How is that "hard" to beat? lol We could probably double that offer if we wanted between our mix of young talent and picks. Hell, a package of Tatum, Williams, salary filler, and the Kings pick probably beats that alone lol

We do have more picks to offer than the Lakers, that's for sure. I'm just not sure I want to package Tatum in a deal for him (he's the "untouchable" IMHO), as I just posted above. Also, it might hurt us in future FA if our first marquee FA signing in history (Horford) or 2nd (Hayward) is dealt in a trade within 2.5 years, I think? Something to consider. I do think Brown + Rozier/Smart (Rozier via S&T if him) + Yabusele works salary wise next summer if you include the cap hold of the Kings Pick too.
