Stevens messed the chemistry of this team up by insisting hayward start. and it's been at the expense of every player on this team. every issue on this team is a trickle down effect from this decision.

nobody would have questioned anything if he came out and said "hayward will come off the bench at least until he's ready to go full speed".

plus the line up of Baynes, Horford, Tatum, Brown & Irving pretty much earned the right to pick up where they left off.

this season was all about - how does stevens make it all come together. he was given the ingredients and all he had to do was cook the meal.

Starting Baynes hasn’t looked particularly genius yet.

I think the team is just too much in flux. We need less stars and more role players right now. Rozier is playing hero ball whenever he’s out there. Tatum insists on going iso. Kyrie loves to create his own shot. Brown is playing like poop. Hayward is trying to recapture what he lost and trying to play through his mistakes. The only guys I see playing how they did (or better than they did) last year are Horford, Smart and Morris.

True, this is on Stevens. But I think it’s because he needs to rein his guys in. Last year when Kyrie was dominating the ball, Tatum was playing like an awesome role player. Not a guy trying to do his best Kyrie impression. Brown too tbh. Just too many guys trying to do star player things.

If anything, I think Tatum needs to go to the bench. That way he can do all his superstar stuff amongst an offensively inept lineup. And then play Rozier less in favor of a guy like Ojeleye or something. A gritty defensive player who can catch and shoot and won’t try to dribble away the shot clock.

You cannot coach bad shooting unless every shot being put up is contested with tight defense.

This is pretty much it. Just about every other stat from rebounding to assists to turnovers to defensive rating to steals to blocks are all extremely close to last year. What's different. They shoot more three pointers at a much poorer percentage, especially wide open threes

It doesn't seem likely to me that almost the entire team is in a season long slump.

I have to assume the shooting woes are a symptom rather than the illness.


I do think that Hayward being so bad has kind of broken the team, but I don't think it's all about the team being demoralized by him getting a starting spot.

Yeah, I am starting to feel the same way. Get someone in there who will move the ball / share the basketball. Tatum playing one-on-one too much for the well-being of the team.

Dude this is getting to be tired excuse. If your shots ain’t falling, get to the hoop, create contact, get to the line. That had been rule 1 of basketball since James Naismith. Still true. We do it in short spurts and then abandon it. Guys panic and start jacking 3’s and long 2’s.

Tired of the apologist. The guy has been rotten, it's not his fault, just like the OP mentioned, but he has destroyed the chemistry. Hes shooting 38 percent from field, and 29 from three, not to mention erratic play.

Agree, his shooting from outside has been terrible. That will come. 

Other than that his play has been good. He's a very smart passer, his BB IQ is impressive, his rebounding is better than almost anyone on this team. His positional defense is excellent too. He gets steals continually.

We all banked on Brown, Tatum, and Rozier taking the next steps in progression, they simply didn't.
Brown looks horrible. Tatum is coming around. Rozier wants his own team.

Also...what chemistry? Please don't say the playoffs of last year. That was more about a WEAK Eastern conference than anything else.
