They aren't playing as well because they aren't getting in the flow of the game. If our big 3 are going to be Kyrie, Horford and Hayward....we're in trouble.

How did this team play so well in the playoffs? Sharing the ball and using their athletic ability. They have taken a backseat to the vets and it shows.

Can someone explain to me why Jackie Mac and Windhorst were talking about Jayson Tatum's "struggles"?

He is the second leading scorer, and the leading rebounder, and shooting .398 from deep, on a playoff contender.

Tatum is Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing flying.

Makes no sense to me. Tatum started slow and still isn't playing defense as well as he can but over his last 12 games Tatum is putting up 18 PPG, 6 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.4 SPG shooting 49/44/78. Kid turned it around and has not regressed. He is showing progress and is getting better and better.

Brown started off awful except for his defense. But before he got hurt over the last 4 games he looked like he was turning his season around as well.

Let's not jump to conclusions based on 20 games. I expect bot players to be a huge part of this team in the second half of this season and into the playoffs.

I haven't listened yet, so I'm not sure if they're only talking about offense. If that's the case, they're wrong. Offensively, he's definitely finding hitting his stride. But there are times on defense where he looks completely lost and "bad" in a way I can't recall him looking as a rookie. He gives up a lot of cuts off the ball because he gets caught ball watching too easily. He rotates late. When he gets beat off the dribble, he commits dumb fouls. These are things that can be corrected with more focus, but there are nights where defense looks like a "struggle" for him.

My biggest fear is that we stunt their growth thru lesser roles next season.

Yuh, to be honest, I haven't listened either. Just saw that blurb against Tatum, and curious if anyone knew.

Tater got lost on D last year too, I haven't really noticed a regression. He seems to be matching up against smaller guys this year (we seem to be using 2 bigs on the floor at the same time a lot this year - some combo of Baynes/Horford/Theis), so they might be outpacing and spacing him.

Let's see him adjust to guarding faster guys more often. He will get accustomed to the positioning required.

I think Jackie has been spending too much time with Windhorst.

The lineup change has done wonders imo. Tatum Hayward and Brown were all looking tentative when they were in the starting lineup. Only Kyrie was the clear cut alpha scorer. Hayward moving to the bench and Brown, well, sucking (and now being injured) has helped Tatum carve out his role as the secondary scorer.

Now that Hayward is back to his old self, I think we will be fine.

A few good games and he is back?

Fantastic logic.

Have the young guys played worse than last year, particularly last year's playoffs? Yes (although Tatum has picked it up again). But have they regressed? Hell no.

Going through a slump is not the same as getting worse. Nor is it regressing if you have a stretch where you play out of your mind and then go back to normal (aka Rozier).

Saying Terry regressed is like saying that Smart's shooting regressed in the 2017 offseason because his shooting dropped from 39.7% in the playoffs and then shot 30.1% during the season. He didn't, he was just on a great hot streak and went back to normal
I'm bitter.
