As a general principle, Danny Ainge deserves significant benefit of the doubt. But I argued that this team was going to be too crowded. I thought it was unlikely that Rozier would be able to carve out a role that would make him look good, and that his value was as high as it was likely to get last offseason. Still, I'm surprised at how much he has regressed.
You can't use either Rozier or Smart to break the defense. They can both make a good pass, but Smart lacks burst speed, and Rozier doesn't make good decisions in traffic. When he is the primary focus of the defense, he just isn't very effective. They both play better with other playmakers, and they are terrible together.
We may work this out, but I would have preferred moving him during the offseason, or instead moving Smart.
