Honestly Ray Allen is starting to behave like the spouse that has an affair with her spouse's best friend to  spite the spouse, but lives to regret it after losing the spouse and realizing that spite is not fulfilling.

Just go away Ray, jeeze how many years as it been, people have moved on.

TP for an almost perfect analogy.

What might be more analogous though would be that the person would not be the spouse’s best friend, but rather the spouse’s sworn enemy and rival. That’s a little more biting.

Judas is too good a name for him. Judas did what he did for the silver. Money didn’t even enter into it for Allen, and the motivation wasn’t ring chasing either. Allen did what he did to spite Rondo and Doc and DA, his “friends” (PP and KG) be [dang]ed.

Class act, like so many say about Catfish Ray? Not really. Just a spiteful, small, petty little diva.

Begone!

TP ... you nailed the analogy.

What Ray still doesn’t understand is that nobody really cares why he left, it’s how he left.

He could have left Danny in the cold and told Rondo off, but to not talk beforehand and explain to KG and Paul why he was leaving was wrong.

For the supposed bond he talks about everywhere, it didn’t mean much to him back then.

I did appreciate his time here but all is not forgiven, nor will it ever be forgotten.

He misses this city and franchise more than we could ever miss him. And it’s his fault.

Allen never did anything wrong. Ainge tried to trade him. Then they tried reducing his role and having Bradley start. Then he realized the Cs window had closed. He was a FA and went to the team that gave him chance to win. Cs fans have an irrational hate towards a guy who was a large reason for winning that Lakers series.

Are you kidding? I dont see C fans dwelling on Ray. Ray is the one that wants to sneak back in the house in the middle of the night after carrying on an open affair with her husband's rival.

Yeah, unsure how anyone can say Ray never did anything wrong. His public presence, particularly over the last 18 months or so, has been borderline pathetic

Ainge tried trading him. Believe it or not, that’s not unheard of in professional sports. Ainge squashed that uneasiness by offering him a NTC. He may have been on the verge of losing his starter status to AB, true. So if he left, he went to start? Oh no, he took less money and a lesser role to go to a rival contender. If he jumped ship for a ring, don’t talk about how Boston was the most important time in his life when all he cared about was extending his personal window of relevancy.

There was never a time he wasn’t (at best) the third-most important player on our team, unless KG or Pierce (or even Rondo) sat.

If you think he did absolutely nothing wrong, you’re delusional. If C’s fans are irrational, what are KG and Pierce?

Don't understand why people are still mad at Allen. He wanted to win a ring with Lebron more than he wanted his number in the rafters. He has every right to make that choice.

Exactly. People in here are so sensitive that someone would want to leave the Cs. He did what he thought was best for him. He didn't owe anyone anything.

Same. I had no ill will toward Ray. The opposite, I'm grateful for the time he spent in Boston. While he was here he was a class act who always showed up and played hard even though he was the one who sacrificed the most (touches, attention, etc.) in the big 3.

Nice to see him taking his rightful spot in the Hall.

Happy for Ray, glad he's making the Hall of Fame, which was undoubtedly going to happen. But can he just leave the Celtics out of his name? I swear we have been talking about this for years...

Well, if a bunch of fans like the ones here kept on calling him Judas/traitor etc, I can see why he'd be hurt. Like I said, he deserved better than he got from the "fans." I'm glad that there are Cs fans out there that realize that. Without Ray, there is no KG and magical 07-08 season.

Did he not sell any books? Why does he keep talking about this? No one's asking.

Even when you put it that way, it still sounds pretty pathetic.

If that’s what he wanted, he succeeded, now let it go. Stop bringing up the C’s and 2008. Like you said, he cared more about leeching onto LeBron than joining the rafters.

If he wants to step foot in the Garden again, he should buy a ticket.
